Once My Only, Now Just a Memory Chapter 14

“This is impossible…”

“Flora, stop this. Please tell Lumi to come out.”

“I was wrong. I admit it…” Cillian clutched my arms, his face paper-white, his voice cracking with panic. “I will do whatever you want to make it up to you. Just stop playing this joke.”

I ignored his desperate words, looking instead at the photo of my daughter.

“Lumi, your father is here to see you.”

“He said he found another donor back then. You see? He didn’t abandon you.

Cillian’s eyes turned red. He grabbed my shoulders, shaking me gently. “I did find a donor! Why is she

dead?”

He knew I would never fake my own daughter’s grave.

No matter how much he wanted to deny it, the truth was carved in stone before him.

Lumi was gone.

“Perhaps you should ask yourself that question,” I said, my voice hollow.

Why had the donor never arrived?

Why had Cillian never known of her death?

The answers were obvious.

Cillian’s hands slid off my shoulders. He stumbled backward. “Brielle? No…”

But he couldn’t even convince himself.

If Brielle could forge reports and photos, she was capable of this too.

“She couldn’t have hidden this from me alone,” Cillian whispered, his face growing paler.

I watched him.

Brielle didn’t have that kind of power, Edmund had to have been involved.

Cillian realized this, his teeth chattering with a sudden chill. “My grandfather wouldn’t do that. He loved

Lumi.”

“He wanted an heir,” I replied softly.

And by then, Brielle was already pregnant with Milo.

Lumi was no longer of any use to them.

Cillian knew his grandfather’s cold, calculating nature. His last shred of hope vanished.

He shook his head, his vision blurring. A cold sweat broke out across his skin

The two people he had protected had killed his daughter, and he had been their accomplice.

How could he live with that?

I felt no joy in his suffering. Only a deep, empty sorrow.

“Do you know when my wolf disappeared?”

He looked up at me, his eyes wide.

“Five years ago. The moment Lumi stopped breathing. That was the last time I felt her.”

“Find the truth, Cillian. Find it, and make them pay.

I turned and walked away.

When I got back to the bakery, Lydia looked at me curiously.

“Are you and Alpha Cillian getting back together?”

I began organizing the display cases.

“You cannot put broken glass back together.”

“As for Brielle,” I paused, “she owes Lumi a debt. I will make sure she pays it.”

Before I could finish my sentence, the front door was kicked open.

Brielle stormed in, her face twisted in rage.

“Flora Shaw! You shameless b**ch! How dare you try to take my Alpha!”
