Once My Only, Now Just a Memory Chapter 13

Once My Only, Now Just a Memory Chapter 13

Flora’s POV

The next day, I went back to work as usual.

Through the glass storefront, I saw Cillian standing outside.

Mark looked over at me with concern. “Is He here to cause more trouble?”

“I don’t think so,” I replied quietly.

The sky was gray and heavy, reflecting my mood.

Cillian stood perfectly still, his eyes locked onto my face through the window.

“Alpha Cillian, can I help you?” I asked politely when I walked out.

Cillian’s eyes filled with pain. He reached out and grabbed my hand. “Flora, please don’t speak to me like

that…”

I pulled my hand back with force. “How should I speak to you?”

“Like you used to,” he pleaded, his voice trembling. “I know everything now. Five years ago, it was all my grandfather and Brielle’s doing. I…”

He trailed off under my cold gaze.

He knew the truth now. But what did that change?

I had suffered for five years. A simple apology could not fix that.

“We can talk about us later. Just let me see Lumi. I want to apologize to her.”

“I am her father, Flora.”

I looked at him, surprised. “You haven’t looked for her yourself?”

If he had sent his men to search, he would have found her grave by now.

Cillian took my hand again, tightening his grip so I couldn’t pull away.

“I made a mistake five years ago. I wanted to ask for your forgiveness before I saw her.”

“Please give me a chance to make things right.”

His expression reminded me of the day I told him I was pregnant.

He had been so incredibly happy, kneeling before me to press his ear to my stomach.

“Listen closely, little one. You inust never trouble your Mommy.”

I had laughed and asked, “What if it is a girl?”

“I will love her just the same,” he had replied instantly.

“She can still inherit the Wrenford Pack. But she will always be second, because your Mommy is number

one.”

He had kept his word back then, giving Lumi everything she could ever want.

Even when Edmund demanded a male heir, Cillian had stood his ground.

“Having a child is hard on Flora. One is enough.”

I had believed we would grow old together.

I let out a soft, tired laugh.

“Very well. I will take you to Lumi.”

Cillian’s eyes lit up with hope.

I requested half a day off from Mark.

Cillian followed me eagerly, likely assuming I was leading him to a local elementary school.

He had probably prepared himself to see her in a poor environment, planning how he would spoil her to make up for the lost years.

Until the car stopped.

He looked up at the sign.

Westbridge Memorial Cemetery.

I led him through the quiet rows of headstones.

We stopped in front of a small, clean grave.

The photograph on the stone showed Lumi at four years old, smiling brightly.

Cillian froze.
