The Group Chat That Shipped Them, The Application I Sent Chapter 10

Sienna saw the flood of insults online, and deep down, she believed every bit of it was her fault.

The abuse became so relentless that she deleted all her social media apps. But even after she disappeared from the internet, the harassment continued through phone calls.

In the end, Sienna changed her number, moved to a new city, and decided to start over.

As for me, I told Mom that Ethan and I had broken up. I asked her not to take his calls anymore and not to tell him anything about my life.

She never asked why.

From that day on, Mom stopped giving Ethan any updates about me.

A year later, I got engaged.

Mom was so happy that she posted a photo of my engagement online.

Ethan saw it.

Not long after, my phone rang.

His voice was heavy when I answered.

“Clara, you’re getting married?”

“Yeah.”

There was a long silence.

Then Ethan asked quietly, “Is there really no chance you’ll give me another shot? I meant everything you said back then. I’ll change. We won’t have to keep our relationship a secret anymore. Clara, I don’t want to

lose you.”

I listened to the regret in his voice, but it didn’t move me.

When Ethan and I had been together, he was a ruthless CEO in public and my devoted boyfriend behind closed doors.

Other than the fact that he refused to make our relationship public, I had thought everything between us was pretty much perfect.

A lot of my friends had even tried to convince me that Ethan had his reasons for keeping us private.

He was a CEO, after all. Of course he couldn’t afford to have everyone knowing the details of his personal life.

He treated me well. Maybe I was just being too demanding.

At least, that’s what I had believed.

Until I met the man I was with now.

Adrian’s company wasn’t nearly as big as Ethan’s, but from the moment we met, he had made it clear to everyone that I was the woman he was pursuing.

He never made me feel like a secret.

For the first time, I understood what it felt like to be openly chosen and valued.

That was why I agreed to give him a chance.

One date became another. Then another.

Eventually, I fell in love with him and decided I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him.

So when Ethan asked if there was still a chance, I simply said, “No. There isn’t. Adrian treats me very well.”

Later, when the wedding came around, I didn’t invite Ethan.

But I didn’t go out of my way to keep him away, either.

So on the day of my wedding, Ethan still showed up.

He brought a wedding gift.

And he brought the bottles of wine he’d been saving all those years.

Ethan pointed toward the cases stacked beside him./

“Clara, we said we’d drink all of these at our wedding. I kept my word.”

It was, indeed, my wedding day.

Just not the wedding he’d once imagined.

I thanked him politely and kept the distance that belonged between two exes.

By the end of the night, Ethan had drunk more of his own wine than anyone else.

He was completely wasted by the time his assistant came to take him home.

My new husband, Adrian Thorne, clearly realized that Ethan and I had once been more than just casual acquaintances.

With unmistakable jealousy in his voice, he teased me, “He came all the way here to deliver wine, then drank most of it himself. Babe, we’re not hanging out with cheap guys like that.”

I burst out laughing at how childish he was being.

‘Fine. We won’t hang out with him ever again.”

“Deal.”

I had no idea how much time passed after that.

Eventually, Ethan’s company went under.

The layoffs he’d carried out back then had wiped out a huge portion of his core staff. After we broke up, he was never really himself again, and he failed to rebuild his team properly.

Without the people he needed and without anyone capable of turning things around, his company eventually filed for bankruptcy and went into liquidation.

But none of that had anything to do with me.

After our wedding, Adrian and I flew to the Maldives for our honeymoon.

As far as I was concerned, everything that happened to Ethan belonged to a life I had already left behind.

It no longer mattered to me at all.
