The Group Chat That Shipped Them, The Application I Sent Chapter 06

The Group Chat That Shipped Them, The Application I Sent Chapter 06

The belongings of former employees had all been packed into small boxes.

There wasn’t much to sort through, but the ring was so tiny that finding it was like searching for a needle in

a haystack.

Ethan dumped out box after box.

Finally, tucked away in an inconspicuous corner, be found the matching wedding bands he and Clara had

exchanged.

When he walked out of the storage room, his usually immaculate suit was covered in dust.

His coworkers stared at him in disbelief.

“Mr. Sterling, what happened to you?”

Ethan couldn’t care less what anyone thought.

He grabbed the rings, seized Sienna by the wrist, and pulled her toward the exit.

“I can’t get through to Clara. Can you still reach her?”

Before Sienna could answer, Ethan snatched her phone.

Using her phone, he sent Clara a message:

[Clara, where are you?]

The message immediately showed the same thing.

Blocked.

Ethan’s heart dropped.

How could this be?

Why had Clara blocked both of them?

Sienna put on a wounded expression.

“Mr. Sterling, is Clara still upset about the promotion? Maybe you should give my position to her. I’m just a new hire anyway. I’m sure she feels uncomfortable having someone like me supervising her.”

Ethan frowned but didn’t answer.

The panic that had gripped him moments earlier suddenly faded.

Instead, he felt strangely calm.

Clara was making a mountain out of a molehill.

Sienna was right.

This was obviously just about the promotion.

She was throwing a tantrum over her career.

Give her a few days to cool off, and she’d come back.

Ethan didn’t try to contact me again.

The little incident from that night soon faded into the background, while the rumors about Ethan and Sienna once again spread through the office like wildfire.

Then someone spotted the two of them getting out of the same car.

When Sienna denied that there was anything going on between them, some people refused to believe her.

One coworker even followed Ethan and Sienna in their car.

That was how they discovered the two of them were actually living together.

Armed with secretly taken photos of Ethan and Sienna/coming and going from the same house, the coworkers confronted them and asked if wedding bells were finally in their future.

Sienna gave them a deliberately vague answer.

“We’re not at that point yet. You guys are reading too much into it.”

That answer only made everyone more convinced that she was going to be the future Mrs. Sterling.

Until Ethan finally realized I wasn’t coming back.

Until he stared at the new wedding ring he had ordered and kept imagining how happy I would have been when he gave it to me.

That was when he finally couldn’t take it anymore.

He tracked down my current address and decided to arrange a candlelit dinner so he could apologize.

His assistant, Lucas Reed, booked the reservation for him.

Then, without bothering to confirm anything with Ethan, Lucas invited Sienna as well.

The entire company showed up to witness what they assumed would be Ethan’s grand romantic gesture.

Instead, they watched Ethan frown in confusion.

“Sienna? Why are you here?”

Lucas froze.

The coworkers holding party poppers froze too.

Everyone stared at Ethan.

“What do you mean, Mr. Sterling? Isn’t Sienna your secret girlfriend?”

Ethan turned toward Lucas with an ugly look on his face.

“Of course not! When did I ever tell you to invite Sienna Bennett?”

The coworkers stared at Sienna in disbelief.

“Then why were you coming out of Mr. Sterling’s house?”

“You were riding in the same car!”

“And you were wearing matching pajamas!”

Ethan frowned and explained, “Sienna is just a friend of my girlfriend’s. She’s temporarily staying at my

place because the weather has made her commute difficult. Who started spreading rumors that there was something going on between Sienna and me?”

Sienna realized everyone had finally learned the truth.

Embarrassed, she hurried to play innocent.

“Exactly. I told you guys. Mr. Sterling and I aren’t in that kind of relationship.”

“But you never denied it before.”

The coworkers looked at her as though they had been completely played.

Before Sienna could say anything else, the door opened.

I walked in.

“Ethan, why did you ask me to come here?”

The entire room went silent.

Everyone turned toward me.

Their eyes widened in shock.

Clara?

“Wait. Clara is Mr. Sterling’s girlfriend?”
