Chloe came out with red eyes.

“Ian, my parents just called about marrying me off again. I don’t want to go back to that house. Could you let me stay a few days? I’ll move out as soon as I find a place.”

Ian hesitated.

Then he pinched his forehead. “Stay for now. I’ll talk to Faye.”

That day, the woman of the house didn’t come home.

And Ian forgot to look for her.

He was busy taking care of his first love, busy remembering being young, and the days went fast.

They went so fast that by the time he noticed she hadn’t reached out in a long while, he was about to be a groom.

On the morning of the wedding, a few of the guys got to the venue early.

They sent the location over, too.

The screen filled up with congratulations and welcomes.

But not one of them had noticed that the bride they were talking about had left the group a week ago.

Ian smiled and typed back.

Ian: [Enjoy the party, but don’t give her a hard time. She embarrasses easily.]

He put down his phone.

He’d just pinned the boutonniere on when Jake called.

“What are you doing, man? You changed the venue and didn’t tell any of us?”
