My Bodyguard Keeps My Secrets And My Underwear Chapter 02

My Bodyguard Keeps My Secrets And My Underwear Chapter 02

I didn’t sleep. I spent the rest of the night reading every comment as it scrolled past.

By morning, I’d pieced the whole thing together. I was the villainess of a story called Falling for the Golden Boy. Preston Vance — the golden boy on campus I’d been chasing — was the male lead. Hazel Linwood, the quiet scholarship girl, was the female lead.

And Declan was the villain — cold, obsessive, ruthless. According to the story, he’d eventually get sick of my cruelty, switch sides to protect Hazel, fall for her, and take over my family’s company.

In the end, I’d ruin my own family and die horribly.

Fun.

I dragged myself to campus that morning with dark circles so bad they looked painted on. Apparently, from a distance, I looked ready to kill. Students scattered the second they saw me, like I might grab the nearest person just to have someone to yell at.

“Move, move — Preston shot Harper down again yesterday. She’s in a mood.”

“No kidding. That’s, like, what feels like the hundredth time. And he doesn’t just say no — he trashes every gift she gives him right in front of her.”

Of course, that was the exact moment something got in my eye. I lifted a hand to rub it.

The two girls whipped around, saw my hand go up, and cowered against the lockers, shaking.

“Harper, we’re sorry — we didn’t mean it!”

“Please don’t — we won’t say it again, we swear!”

For context — I ran the most exclusive sorority on campus. Every member came from old money, and I had more of it than anyone else, so naturally, I was in charge.

Right on cue, the comments lit up again.

[Girl, WAKE UP. You’re rich and gorgeous — if you just stopped being awful for five seconds, you could have literally everything!]

“That’s enough!” Hazel appeared out of nowhere and planted herself between me and the two cowering girls, chin up, eyes blazing like she was the star of her own justice montage. “Leave them alone, Harper!”

[Main plot triggered — the villainess is about to slap the heroine for playing hero.]

[Look to the left — male lead is already in position, ready to swoop in and defend her.]

[God, this is so predictable.]

I glanced to my left.

Sure enough — Preston, leaning against the wall, arms crossed, watching Hazel like she was the most interesting thing on campus.

I was literally just rubbing my eye!

“We all go to the same school, Harper. You can’t keep treating people like this!” Hazel glared at me, practically vibrating with moral conviction.

“Excuse me? Where exactly did you see me bullying anyone —”

I caught myself mid-sentence and clamped my mouth shut.

Normally, my temper had a hair trigger, and I’d almost let it take over just now.

[Wait, why’d she stop? Since when does the villainess hold back?]

[Maybe she’s playing nice first so she can hit harder later?]

[Lol @ the comment above — if this girl had a single brain cell, she wouldn’t BE the villainess.]

Preston pushed off the wall and crossed the crowd in a few long strides, pulling Hazel behind him. He looked down at me.

“You’re out of line, Harper. Know when to quit.” His voice dropped, cold enough to cut. “I don’t care how you feel about me — don’t drag other people into it. You know my type isn’t entitled brats.”

Something behind my ribs caved in. I dropped my gaze. Around me, whispers rippled through the crowd.

“Is Harper about to cry?”

I’d spent my whole life at the center of everything — worshiped, surrounded, spoiled — and none of it had ever meant much to me.

Preston was the only thing I’d ever genuinely wanted.

My feet always carried me toward him before I even realized I was moving. My eyes found him in every room before I decided to look. I could never explain it.

But now I knew how the story ended — him destroying my family, me dead in a ditch. And just like that, every feeling I had for him went cold.

He wasn’t worth it.

“Then I guess I won’t waste your time. I’m clearly not what you’re looking for.”

I turned and walked away before he could respond.

Behind me, Declan shot Preston a look cold enough to frost glass, then fell into step at my side.

Back in the lecture hall, I dropped into my seat and stared at nothing. Declan sat beside me in silence, offering exactly zero comfort. If anything, he looked even icier than usual.

I glanced over at him, searching for something — anything. All I found was the same message written all over his face.

You deserved that.

Yeah. Real lovesick, this one.

The next morning, word got around that someone had jumped Preston — wearing a ski mask and beaten the hell out of him in the parking lot.

[THE VILLAIN IS DOWN SO BAD. He literally beat up the male lead for her and didn’t even tell her!]

[LOOK AT HIM!! Girl, open your eyes — this man is the one!!]

Declan did that? For me? No way.
