She Forgave the Crush Who Ruined Her Mom, I Divorced Chapter 07 The Collapse of Their Toxic Bond

It was because of everything that transpired between their parents that Sloane’s mother once made predatory, unwanted advances toward Zach’s father.

“How could that possibly be true…”

Her father’s face crumpled with total despair at her denial, and a bitter, icy laugh rumbled out of his chest.

“You’ll lap up every garbage lie Zach spouts, yet not a single honest word Elias and I tell you sinks in?”

A frantic, desperate urge to find Elias crashed over Sloane all at once. She shot to her feet and bolted out the door without a single backward glance. Zach showed up moments later, screaming her name over and over but she never slowed or turned back.

Humans always act this way when trapped in unacknowledged, forbidden love: they cast every rational thought aside and lunge blindly toward the person they crave.

By the time she stumbled through the front door of their shared home, Elias was long gone.

He hadn’t packed a single personal belonging, yet the entire space felt alien, irreparably broken.

The living room sofa was buried under stacks of printed photo stills-shots of her and Zach fooling around at an amusement park, raw hotel clips capturing their heated intimate trysts, irrefutable hard evidence she could never explain away.

Sloane sank onto the couch and sat motionless for hours, watching daylight fade until pitch black swallowed every corner of the house. every

Alone in the dark, she swore she heard faint footsteps echo through the hallway.

“Elias?” she called out, voice bright with fragile hope, spinning around only to find the room empty.

Her phone lit up unprompted on the coffee table, a text notification popping up front and center:

“Zach hurt me badly all those years ago. I’ve recovered the lost surveillance footage of his crimes, and I will not let him walk free.”

I’d packed my minimal belongings and settled onto Bianca’s living room couch the second I left our shared house.

Bianca seethed with unbridled rage on my behalf, her tone sharp with resolve.

“You need to file formal charges against her immediately. This is the perfect chance to blast her marital infidelity all over every platform, lock those two toxic losers together for the rest of their miserable lives!”

Zach had always been insufferably arrogant. After winning Sloane over, he launched public social media accounts where he documented every sliver of their twisted dynamic, branding them a “hate-to-love power couple.” The gimmick blew up online, earning him a massive, rabid fanbase.

Once word spread about the six years he’d tormented me, nearly beating me to death, alongside proof of his affair with a married woman, his follower count skyrocketed to absurd new heights.

Comment sections overflowed with vicious backlash:

hat bully brute has zero moral boundaries, just a professional homewrecker trash.”

“Get the hell off my feed-this scumbag only wants to grift cash from his fans?”

“Am I the only one sickened by this? Her own mother was murdered by this brute, and she still hopped into bed with him? I can’t wrap my head around that level of stupidity.”

Shortly after those viral posts circulated, I officially filed felony premeditated murder charges against Zach.

I’d assumed Zach had built an extensive network of powerful, well-connected allies during his years gallivanting around the city throwing his weight around, but when push came to shove, no reputable attorney dared touch his case.

Desperate and cornered, he rushed straight to Sloane’s corporate office building, only to get blocked at the lobby and denied entry entirely.

Zach completely lost his mind outside the glass doors, slamming his boots hard against the frame as he roared.

“Sloane, you’re really gonna abandon me like this? We fixed everything between us, didn’t we?”

“How can you be this cold and cruel, letting me rot behind bars? I refuse to believe you never felt a single genuine thing for me all these years!”

“That night-you told me you loved me, clear as day—”

He barely finished the broken, desperate sentence before Sloane wrenched the office door open.

She looked utterly wrecked, no makeup, messy hair, no effort put into tidying herself up whatsoever.

The second she stepped across the threshold, Zach lunged forward and grabbed her tight, crumpling her blouse’s fabric in his grip.

“We’re on the same team now, Yoyo-you’ve gotta help me out of this mess!”

A quiet, hollow huff escaped Sloane’s lips, and Zach’s heart lifted, convinced he could manipulate her again. But when her bloodshot, exhausted eyes locked onto his, her tone turned frigid and lifeless.

“I signed that wrongful release document years ago, and what happened to my mother is far from settled.”

“Zach, I’m filing felony murder charges against you before this day ends.”

Zach stumbled backward several unsteady steps, his gaunt, hollow face twisting into a feral, venomous snarl, then he suddenly curled his mouth into a mocking grin.

“File charges all you want-we’re both drowning in the same sinking ship now!”

“You think Elias will ever forgive you for your marital infidelity once this case unfolds? He’s the type to hold a lifelong unforgiving grudge, he’ll hate you till the day he dies!”

“And don’t think I’ve sat idle all these years without leverage over you. If I go down, your entire company and reputation burn right alongside mine!”

The icy, composed mask Sloane had forced herself to wear shattered completely, laying bare her raw panic.

“Zach, get the fuck out of my sight this instant!”

Her mind had been tangled in unending chaos every single minute these past few days. She’d never once suspected all the vicious, underhanded acts Zach had committed against me behind her back/all those

years.

Security officers stepped in and dragged Zach kicking and screaming out of the lobby, and he never stopped spewing foul curses the entire way out.

Every office staff member lingered to watch the scene unfold, whispering and gossiping amongst themselves-but Sloane couldn’t have cared less about their murmurs.
