She Forgave the Crush Who Ruined Her Mom, I Divorced Chapter 06 The Truth Crashing Down

Zach’s face twisted with venomous malice, yet smug disdain seeped through his fake hurt expression.

I let my gaze fall to the ground.

Would my whole world crumble just without her by my side?

Was she utterly blind to the power and wealth of the Elias family’s empire?

I swept my eyes over her from head to toe, studying every inch of her for the very first time in years.

“Sloane, once this divorce is finalized, I’ll thrive a thousand times better than you could ever imagine.”

“Oh spare me that garbage!” Zach snapped, unable to hold back his bitter jealousy any longer.

“If you’re so incredible, why not just divorce her already? Her career’s stagnated for years all because you’re never lifted a finger to push her forward!”

“If it were me standing beside her, I’d lift her high enough to reach far greater heights.”

A hollow, bitter laugh burst out of me.

If I hadn’s secretly poured funding and connections into her sinking company all these years, it would’ve collapsed into bankruptcy long ago.

Zach opened his mouth to fire another retort, only to get sent sprawling flat on the floor by Bianca’s sharp kick.

Bianca’s delicate brows knitted tight with unbridled fury.

“This worthless piece of garbage tormented you for six whole years and landed you in critical care?”

Sloane froze completely, shock washing over her features.

“Torment him? What nonsense are they spouting off about? Elias only wound up in the ICU from a fever, nothing more!”

“I never did a single cruel thing to him, don’t you dare listen to their lies!”

Zach’s eyes darted evasively, and he pressed his swollen, bruised cheek right up close to hers.

“Sloane, I never meant to break up your marriage. I only wanted to fix the regret of our childhood promise to wed. Why do I deserve to get punched over this?”

“True love always belongs to whoever came first, anyway!”

As he spoke, he shot me a scathing, disgusted side-eye.

“The unloved one’s always the side piece, not me!”

I stared at this disastrous farce of a fake wedding, my mind eerily calm despite all the chaos swirling around

“If that’s truly how you see it, then let’s end this marriage for good.”

“Shane, if you refuse to sign the divorce paperwork voluntarily, I’ll file a formal lawsuit and meet you in court.”

I reached out to grab Bianca’s wrist, ready to walk out together.

A cold, mocking laugh cut through the air behind me-Sloane’s voice sharp with resentment/

“Fine then, divorce me. I never thought you’d sink to such a pathetic lowlife.”

She snatched the pen, scrawled her signature across the papers with brutal force, and hurled the whole stack straight at my chest.

Sloane’s father had been dizzy and lightheaded from unbridled rage this whole time. The second he watched her sign the document, his vision swam and he crumpled to the floor unconscious.

I immediately ordered staff to escort him to the hospital for emergency care, then left the venue with Bianca at my side.

Sloane watched my retreating back, a blazing inferno of anger burning hot in her chest.

Why couldn’t he ever try to understand where I was coming from?

Nobody stays trapped in lifelong hatred these days, after all.

Zach rubbed his throbbing, swollen cheek, grumbling nonstop as they headed for the door.

“We need to get to the hospital right now. Look at the garbage man you chose to marry! If our childhood engagement had gone through like it was supposed to, I never would’ve treated you like this.”

“At the end of the day, this whole mess is your mother’s fault. She hated me and my dad, screamed insults at us every chance she got-no wonder I grew to loathe her so deeply.”

“Shut up, drop it.” Sloane’s mind spun, tangled with unease.

A gnawing gut instinct told her she might’ve been in the wrong all along.

She hopped behind the wheel and drove Zach to the hospital to treat his facial wounds. While he waited in line for medical care, she headed down the hallway to her father’s ward.

The second she pushed the door open, a loud clattering crash echoed through the room.

Her father had woken from his faint and tried to grab a glass of water, only for the cup to slip out of his trembling grip and shatter on the tile floor.

Sloane stepped forward to clean up the mess, but he roughly shoved her hand away.

Tears glistened in his bloodshot eyes, his tone rigid and ice-cold with disappointment.

“What are you even doing here? Get out of my sight.”

Sloane’s patience already frayed thin; she dropped heavily into a nearby chair, irritation thick in every

word.

ad, why are you acting exactly like Elias? What’s so terrible about Zach? I don’t think he’s actually done anything unforgivable…”

“Nothing unforgivable?!” Her father’s voice shook with raw, broken grief.

“Do you know why your mother grew to despise Zach later on? His own father hit on her and tried to seduce her behind my back! Zach held that petty grudge for years and murdered her out of revenge!

“Elias risked everything to save your life, and spent years pouring all his resources into lifting you up-and you dare throw it all away to betray him for this monster?”

Sloane froze rigid as a stone statue, every ounce of color draining from her face.

Silence hung heavy in the ward for long minutes, broken only by her father’s ragged, labored breathing.

A thick lump bobbed up and down in her throat as she replayed Zach’s words from long ago-the reason he’d claimed she’d always resented him was because…
