You Want Him? Take Him! But I’m Keeping All the Assets Chapter 06

The moment I said that, the banquet hall fell instantly silent.

York’s smile froze on his face, and his expression suddenly hardened.

“Kayla, don’t push your luck,” he said angrily. “I’ve already done everything I could. If you force me to leave with nothing, I won’t agree to the divorce.”

Faye’s expression changed as well. Linking her arm through York’s, she shrieked,

“Kayla, are you out of your mind? You should be grateful York’s even giving you any money at all. Do you really think you can control us?”

Watching them fuming with rage, I chuckled softly.

“Whether I can handle this or not isn’t up to you.”

I raised

my hand and projected the evidence from my phone onto the banquet hall’s big screen.

Bank transfer records, documents of equity transfers, and property transfer certificates appeared one by one.

There were also the bank statements showing York’s embezzlement of company funds and the deposit records from Faye’s overseas account.

Then there was the video of York kissing Faye and the provocative text message Faye had sent.

The images on the screen left everyone speechless.

Whispers erupted once again, but this time they were directed at the two of them.

“So York really did cheat on her and transfer assets?”

“Faye is so disgusting-playing the victim to win sympathy while doing things like this behind everyone’s back.”

“York even embezzled company funds. Isn’t that illegal?”

York’s face went pale. He reached out to turn off the screen, but I stopped him.

“Don’t rush.” I looked at him. “This is just the appetizer. There’s more to come in court.”

Faye covered her face, unable to bear the stares around her, and screamed hysterically.

“Kayla, you did this on purpose! You planned this all along!”

“Yes.” I admitted calmly. “I started planning the moment you returned to the country and

mentioned York.”

“You were the ones who betrayed and schemed against me first. I’m just taking back what’s rightfully mine.”

With that, I turned and walked away.

York was yelling furiously behind me, and I could hear Faye crying.

I got into the car. The car doors shut out all the noise.

My palms weren’t sweaty, and my heartbeat was steady.

Ten years of love vanished into thin air the moment I saw York and Faye embracing.

Right now, all I want is to end this farce as soon as possible and start a new life.

The next day, Ms. Lewis filed the divorce petition with the court.

At the same time, I submitted evidence of York’s embezzlement to his company.

When York received the court summons, he called me countless times.

I blocked every single one.

The tone of his messages shifted from threatening to pleading.

[Kayla, if you drop the charges, I’ll give you all the assets, and we can continue our life together.]

[I know I was wrong. I just lost our heads for a moment. You and Ian are the only ones in my heart.]

[Don’t push me. If this really goes to court, it’s not good for either of us.]

I looked at these messages and found them laughable.

Where was he when he should have acted?

He should have anticipated this day when he chose to deceive me, transfer assets, and be with Faye.

I didn’t reply. I simply gave Ms. Lewis full authority to handle the matter.

Seeing that I wouldn’t budge, York began dragging his feet on the divorce.

He refused to sign for court documents and made up all sorts of excuses to postpone the hearing

dates.

He even showed up outside my office building to confront me.

I had security escort him out immediately and called the police.

After a few incidents, York finally stopped coming after me so brazenly.

But he still refused to cooperate, and the case reached a stalemate for the time being.

I carried on with my life as usual, as if this whole affair had never affected me.

Only occasionally did I think of Ian.

I’d recall his babyish voice calling me “Mommy,” and the way he’d throw himself into my arms to

be spoiled.

I’d also remember that line from his birthday party: “I hate you, you’re a bad woman.”

It still hurt deep inside.

But I knew I couldn’t let my heart soften.

That’s what York and Faye taught him. All I could do was wait. Wait for him to grow up, wait for him to understand right from wrong.

As the days went by, preparations for the lawsuit proceeded in an orderly fashion.

Ms. Lewis told me that York had approached her privately. He wanted her to persuade me to drop the lawsuit and offered a substantial sum of money.

Ms. Lewis flatly refused.

Just when I thought this lawsuit would drag on for a long time, a piece of news suddenly came in.

Eliot had returned to the country.

The very same Eliot who married Faye and left the country with her.

It had been many years since anyone had mentioned that name.

When I heard the news, I was taken aback.

Soon after, I heard even more sensational gossip.

The first thing Eliot did after returning to the country was to file a lawsuit against Faye in court.

Because she had cheated on him while they were married abroad, and had also stolen trade secrets from his company and sold them to competitors, causing massive losses to the company.

This news exploded like a bomb in our chat group.

Everyone was talking about how that once-unruly Eliot had actually been completely manipulated

by Faye.

Some said Faye got what she deserved, that she’d shot herself in the foot.

I read the messages in the group chat, but I felt nothing.

I’ve known what kind of person Faye is for a long time.

She may seem bright and outgoing, but she’s actually selfish and self-serving. To achieve her goals, she’ll stop at nothing.

She chose Eliot simply because his family was wealthy and could provide her with the life she

wanted.

Now she’s turned back to York only because Eliot discovered her schemes, and she had no choice but to return to York for protection.

What she didn’t expect was that York wasn’t someone she could rely on either. And I’m certainly no puppet to be pushed around.

Before long, an uninvited guest arrived at my office-Eliot.

He had changed a lot, shedding the rebelliousness of his youth and gaining a touch of maturity and

composure.

Dressed in a well-tailored suit, his eyes held a hint of coldness.

“Kayla.”

He spoke in a low voice.

“Eliot.” I stood up and gestured for him to sit down.

He didn’t sit. He just looked at me and cut straight to the point.

“I know you have a lot of evidence on Faye and York.”

ina cena especial. El nunca llegó.

“I hope you’ll give me a copy of that evidence.”

I didn’t answering right away.

“I can pay you.”

He added.

I shook my head.

“No need for payment.”

“Faye and York owe me, too.”

“I’d be more than happy to see them pay the price.”

I took out the USB drive and copied all the evidence on it for him.

Eliot took the USB drive and said to me, “Thank you.”

“You’re welcome,” I said. “We’re just on the same side for now.

He nodded, said nothing more, and turned to leave.

Watching his back, I knew that Faye and York’s days are numbered.
