I Dream-Manipulated My Cold Crush To Win Him, But He Saw Through Me All Along Chapter 01

I have a secret ability I’ve never told a soul about.

I could control someone’s dreams simply by sleeping with something that belonged to them.

To finally win the heart of that childhood friend I’d been crushing on for years, who had a sharp tongue and an even sharper attitude, I spent every night creating romantic dreams for him.

Until that day, when I went to borrow his jacket like I always did. And out of nowhere, a block of bold floating comments slammed into my vision:

[This lovesick side character is so gross! The male lead figured her out ages ago. He’s only holding to save face for both families. He doesn’t want to cause a scene!]

[The male lead’s virtue is reserved for the female lead. Side character, back off.]

I looked up in shock, and caught the barely concealed irritation flickering in Grayson’s eyes.

Panicking, I pointed at the guy standing next to him. “Actually… his jacket works too.”

The guy I pointed at froze.

Apparently, he hadn’t expected that coming at all. He just stood there, caught off guard.

Grayson’s already furrowed brow tightened even more.

“You’re asking Miles?” he said.

I lifted my gaze and met the other guy’s dead-calm stare.

So that was his name. Miles Richmond. It suited him.

I swallowed hard and nodded.

Grayson looked impatient. “Miles has a serious thing about germs, didn’t you know? Don’t bother him.”

Without waiting, he yanked off his own jacket and shoved it into my arms, not caring whether I actually wanted it.

“Fine, fine. We’re heading to the lecture hall. If you can’t handle the cold, don’t rot in the library and go back to your dorm.”

He didn’t wait for me to respond. Just waved at his friend and walked out without looking back.

The subtitles flared up again:

[The male lead’s disgust is practically dripping off his face. Is the side character blind or what?]

[This is hilarious. The guy’s in his prime, and he’s been trapped in those strange dreams night after night. He’s a saint for not exploding already.]

[She’s got thicker skin than a brick wall. He clearly never wanted any of this.]

[Just wait. Once the male lead meets the female lead at club recruitment, he’s dumping her like yesterday’s trash.]

Maybe the AC was cranked too high.

A chill shot from my feet straight to my scalp.

My shoulders twitched uncontrollably.

Dream control—I’d swear on my life I never told a single soul, not even my parents.

And yet these random comments knew everything.

Was it all true?

Was I really just some supporting character destined to get tossed aside?

I shoved my books into my bag like a zombie, my head a complete mess.

As I stumbled out, I didn’t even register the giant glass door in front of me.

Right as my forehead was about to smash into it, a warm palm slapped against the glass, cushioning the spot where my head would have hit.

The pain I’d braced for never came.

Instead, I felt dry heat radiating from that palm.

A low, slightly raspy voice brushed past my ear.

“Watch where you’re going.”

I snapped my head up.

And fell straight into a pair of dark, deep eyes.

It was Miles.

I instinctively stepped back two feet. He dropped his hand.

“Thanks,” I mumbled.

He gave a faint nod, his gaze deep and unreadable.

He was holding a thick textbook. Must’ve forgotten to return it and circled back.

Remembering Grayson said they were in a hurry, I sidestepped to clear the way.

But Miles didn’t move. Rooted to the floor, like concrete had grown over his shoes.

His eyes locked onto the jacket I was clutching.

The air was about to solidify.

Then he spoke, “Want to wear mine instead?”

For a second, I thought I’d misheard him.

But looking at his completely serious face I knew he meant it.

He was close enough that I could see every sharp line of his bone structure. The slight upward tilt at the corners of his eyes, the clean cut of his jaw.

His eyes were so dark they were almost unreadable.

I stared a second too long and felt something in his gaze pulling me in.

Against all reason, I nodded.

In the span of a heartbeat.

Miles tossed his own jacket at me.

Then, faster than I could blink, he snatched Grayson’s jacket out of my hands.

“I’ll return it for him.”

Before I could even process what just happened, he added, “I need to return a book,” and walked off.

Almost like… he was afraid I’d change my mind.

I watched his tall silhouette disappear around the corner.

And then it hit me.

Wasn’t he the one who couldn’t stand anyone touching his stuff?!
