She Saved Herself for Her Foster Brother, Not Me Chapter 10

She Saved Herself for Her Foster Brother, Not Me Chapter 10 Free at Last

“Framed you?” The old man pulled a stack of documents from his coat and flung them at Stella.

Papers scattered across the floor.

All of them bore her signature. Financial reports. Promotion files. Account records linking her to Zach

“Are these fake too?”

Stella stared at the papers. Her composure shattered.

“General Myers! I was wrong! I know I was wrong! It was Zach! He forced me! He said if I did not help ham. he would expose everything I had done before! I had no choice!”

She crawled toward me. She tried to grab my leg.

“Ethan! Ethan, say something for me! We have been married seven years–you cannot be this cruel!”

I stepped back. I avoided her hand.

“Stella, when you forced me to kneel, did you think about those seven years? When my mother was torn apart by tigers, did you think about those seven years at all?”

“I… I did not…” She shook her head. Tears streamed down her face. “That was an accident! It really was! I did not know the rope would snap…”

“You did not know?” I crouched down. I pulled a tiny recorder from my pocket. I pressed play.

Zach’s voice filled the room.

“Do not worry. I tampered with the rope. It will not hold for more than five minutes. Once that old woman drops, the compensation money gets split fifty–fifty.”

“That fool Ethan will lose his mind. Then, Stella, you can have him committed for mental illness. We will finally be together.”

The recording ended.

The room went dead silent.

Zach collapsed on the floor. His pants were soaked.

Stella’s expression shifted. Shock. Despair. Then madness.

“Zach! You b*stard!” She lunged at him. She clawed. She hit. “You ruined me! You ruined me!”

“You agreed to it yourself!” Zach shoved her away. “You said that old woman was in the way! You said she should have died a long time ago!”

The two of them fought like rabid dogs.

The old man watched in silence. He waited until they were exhausted. They collapsed on the floor.

sping.

“Finished?”

Stella lifted her head. Her face was bloodied. Her eyes were unfocused.

“General… spare me… I will do anything…”

“Too late.” The old man stood. He brushed off his uniform. “Stella Hayes, you are under arrest. Corruption. Bribery. Abuse of power. Murder. Falsifying military honors. Zach Price, accomplice. Take them away

“Yes, sir!”

Guards stepped forward. They hauled them up.

“No! Do not! Ethan! Save me! Please!” Stella shrieked. She struggled.

Zach was too terrified to react. He hung like a rag doll. They dragged him out.

Their cries faded into the distance.

Three months later, the court–martial convened.

The case shook the entire military.

The evidence was ironclad. There was no denying it. Both pleaded guilty. But each tried to blame the other.

Stella said Zach had manipulated her. Threatened her.

Zach said Stella had seduced him first. Used him like a weapon.

The judge played the interrogation footage.

In the video, they exposed each other’s crimes. Desperately trying to reduce their sentences. From the first time they conspired to steal military credit. To the embezzlement. To plotting my mother’s death.

“Zach cut the rope, but Stella came up with the idea!”

“Lies! You said that old woman was always in the way!”

“You said it first! You said Ethan’s mother was always looking down on you! You said she should have died!”

“You are lying!”

Dog eat dog. Both covered in filth.

The sentence came down.

Stella Hayes: death. Immediate execution.

Zach Price: death. Immediate execution.

When the verdict was read, Stella went wild. She screamed at me.

“Ethan! I was wrong! I really know I was wrong! Save me! Please! I will spend the rest of my life repaying you! I will do anything! Please!”

I did not look at her. I stood. I walked out of the courtroom.

The sunlight outside was bright.

I narrowed my eyes. I took a deep breath.

For the first time in seven years, breathing felt free.
