Betrayed and Sabotaged Before Vows Chapter 01

Betrayed and Sabotaged Before Vows Chapter 01 Betrayed The Night Before Our Wedding
The night before our wedding, my fiancée sent me an explicit video. In the clip, her cheeks burned bright red, with two used condoms resting on her face. Her adoptive brother, Ethan Hale, struck her while snarling, “Your husband-to-be has to get the snip. That child will be mine, and mine alone.” She nodded frantically, words spilling out in a rush, “I’ll tell him I’m pregnant in a few days and make him go through with the sterilization.” When I saw the sender ID she’d accidentally included, I realized she had mixed up our private accounts. So her acceptance of my proposal was never about love at all. It was merely a thin coverup for her sordid affair with her adoptive brother, Ethan. I clenched my fists tight. Every last bit of what I felt for her just died right then. I called my mother right away. “Once we finish shifting all the company’s core operations, I’m walking away. We can cut off all financial support for them completely.” The next morning, I had barely stepped into my office when a blow to my head knocked me unconscious. When I woke up, the sterilization procedure was already done. They’d done this to me without my consent. My fiancée, Lila Hale, showed not a shred of remorse. My heart turned ice-cold. I left the divorce papers behind and walked out. I had long since repaid every debt owed for past favors. It was high time they reaped what they had sown. … I arrived home holding the signed divorce papers. The whole house lay shrouded in darkness. Only Lila’s bedroom cast a strip of light into the hallway. Memories of that afternoon’s pregnancy test and compromising photos cut deep all over again. I crept toward the door and heard breathless moans drifting out. Through the partially ajar door, I could clearly see the blanket over Lila’s lower body shifting and rising. Then came Ethan’s voice. Are they really carrying on like this inside our home? I was about to burst inside, when I realized Ethan’s voice came over a phone call — he was not in the room. “Even after you marry Kael Mercer, you are never to let him touch you. I had a toy custom-built to my size.” “Use it whenever I’m not around. Do you hear me, sis?” Lila fought against wave after wave of overwhelming physical sensation as she replied, “II understand. I won’t let Kael lay a hand on me.” Ethan let out a low, mocking laugh, “Are you really that fragile? You can’t even handle a toy built to match my size.” I did not stay to listen further. I sank onto the living room sofa and smoked one cigarette after another, numb to everything around me. When Lila finally stepped out of her bedroom, I flipped on the main light and held out the divorce papers toward her. Panic flickered across her face the moment she spotted me sitting in the dark living room. But once she took hold of the documents and saw what they were, her expression hardened into open contempt. “Kael, drop this ridiculous act. I was only using a toy, and now you want to end our engagement? Have you lost your mind?” She wrinkled her nose as cigarette smoke hit her nostrils, undisguised disgust crossing her features. I had never smoked in front of her before. I’d even planned to quit entirely once we tied the knot. All those plans for our future are worthless now. I let out a bitter, self-deprecating chuckle and fixed her with an icy stare. “Sign them. I’m not joking.” “I know everything about you and Ethan.” With those words, I turned to leave. Back at the office, the second I received Lila’s pregnancy test and those lewd photos, I’d told my mother I would head home. All I wanted was to cut ties with Lila as fast as possible and get some real rest. If I’d known how disastrous this would turn out, I never should have filed for our marriage license. Shock washed over Lila upon hearing my words. Quickly, shock morphed into righteous anger. “Kael! What utter nonsense are you spouting? Ethan and I are siblings. How can your mind be so warped?” “You can throw a fit all you want, but know your limits. I will not sign these divorce papers. Frankly, you are the one who ought to get yourself checked out by a doctor.” I stared coldly at the woman before me, stunned she would deny everything outright. She is really going to lie straight to my face. For a split second, I wanted to slam all my evidence straight in her face. Yet her brazen, fearless demeanor stopped me. Even if I laid every piece of proof before her, Lila would still lie through her teeth. Exposing her here won’t accomplish anything right now. After all, the public saw her and Ethan as siblings. Adoptive or not, if their true relationship came out, they would become the laughingstock of our entire social circle. Seeing my silence, Lila assumed I held no real evidence. She stepped forward and patted my shoulder in a hollow, reassuring gesture. “Alright. I know wedding day stress has gotten to you.” “But you can’t think such awful things about me and Ethan. Here is what we’ll do: you apologize to us both tomorrow, and we will let this whole incident drop.” She spoke as though she expected me to obey without question. I nearly laughed out loud out of sheer exasperation. The fool still thinks I’ll back down. Once, when I was blindly head over heels for her, I might well have apologized. That version of me was gone. I was burned out. Now that I knew the full truth, I wanted no part of this mess. “I will not apologize to Ethan. Whatever is going on between you two no longer matters to me.” Lila frowned, looking worn out, as if she still wanted to argue and explain herself. I had no desire to hear another word. “Take good care of the child you are carrying. If you refuse to sign the papers, I will send over another copy shortly.” With that, I walked out the front door, ignoring Lila calling my name from behind me.
