My Fiancé Played a Couple-Swap Game, I’m Done Being The Outsider Chapter 03

At lunch, Lilith got seasick.

Dorian stayed by her side the whole time.

My stomach ached so much I couldn’t eat.

I asked the server for some plain porridge.

Leander laughed. “Lyra, you’re getting sick too? You’re not just copying Lilith, are you?”

The others laughed along.

Dorian glanced up.

“You used to be fine on boats.”

“I didn’t eat this morning. My stomach hurts.”

He handed Lilith a glass of warm water.

“Just bear with it. Don’t make it harder while she’s feeling rough.”

The server brought a bowl of oatmeal.

I reached for it.

Dorian pushed it toward Lilith instead.

“Have a little.”

I pulled my hand back slowly.

I’d ordered it—but no one noticed.

Lilith took two bites and pushed it away. “Bland.”

She slid it toward me. “You said your stomach hurts, right? Here.”

It was a mess.

Her lipstick was smeared on the spoon.

Before, I might have eaten it—because Lilith would say,

“Best friends share everything.”

And Dorian would call me “the reasonable one.”

Not this time.

I called the server. “Please take this away.”

Lilith’s face went stiff. “I barely touched it.”

“Are you that grossed out by me?”

I kept my voice calm. “I don’t eat other people’s leftovers.”

Dorian’s face darkened.

“She’s sick and she still thought of you. You had to make her feel bad?”

I looked at the five of them.

I used to eat what they left behind.

Take a different table when there wasn’t room.

Call a cab when the car was full.

Pick up a camera when they needed photos.

But the one time I said no—

I was the one who wasn’t easygoing.

I lowered my head. “Sorry.”

They all relaxed.

Ronan smiled. “That’s more like it. We’re here to have fun.”

I smiled too.

This time, I wasn’t apologizing because I thought I was wrong.

I was done arguing.

That night, they drank on the terrace.

I went back to my room and packed.

The trip was supposed to be seven days. It had only been three.

I booked the earliest return flight.

Then I realized my charger was missing.

Lilith had borrowed it earlier.

Her room was unlocked. No one was inside.

A tablet sat on the nightstand, screen still lit.

A new WhatsApp message had just popped up.

The group name:

Five Friends Forever

Ronan had sent a video—the one of Dorian kissing Lilith from last night.

Below it, the group chat exploded.

Finally.

Told you it’d work.

Lyra’s face went white. And she still didn’t lose it.

She’s such an actress lol.
