The four words fell like a stone.

The room went silent.

Everyone turned to Finn.

When they first came up with the couple challenges, they were dying of laughter.

They pictured Finn with a 200-pound girl.

Feeding each other cake. Holding hands.

And a bridal carry.

They thought it would be hilarious.

Now no one was laughing.

Someone muttered, “Finn didn’t lose anything. He won.”

“If I’d known Allie looked like this, I would’ve rolled for her myself.”

“In your dreams. She’d never look at you.”

Justin’s face got darker with every word.

Finn ignored all of them.

He looked down at me. “No regrets?”

“Why would I regret this?”

I glanced at the list.

“First task-feed each other cake.”

The buzz-cut guy immediately tried to hide the nasty cake behind his back.

“This one doesn’t count. I’ll order a new one.”

“No need.”

Finn stopped him, picked up the knife, and cut a piece-just the word “Goddess.”

He moved cleanly.

I hadn’t expected him to go along with it so easily.

He held the fork out to me.

Whistles rose from the crowd.

“Finn, you gotta feed her, not just hand it over.”

“Exactly. That doesn’t count.”

“Can you all just shut up?”

Finn shot a cold look around.

They went quiet instantly.

He turned back to me, voice lower. “Okay?”

I nodded.

I leaned in and took the bite.

It was such a simple gesture-but the room erupted.

“No way–he actually fed her!”

“They look way too good together.”

Someone even pulled out a phone to take pictures.

I took the fork, cut another piece, and held it up to Finn.

He blinked-like he hadn’t expected that.

Then he bent down just slightly and took the bite.

The room lost it.

Finn was six-two.

Even with heels, I only reached his shoulder.

When he leaned down, we were close enough that I saw the tips of his ears turn red.

I didn’t think someone so cold could get flustered.

“First task done!” The buzz-cut guy was way too excited now.

“Second-hand-holding photo. Post it in the group.”

I was about to reach out-but Finn had already offered his hand. Palm up.

Not grabbing, just waiting.

I put my hand in his. His fingers curled around it, steady and sure.

More gasps.

“He actually held her hand?”

“Finn’s going all in tonight.”

“If I were him, I’d hold her hand all night.”

The guy who said that barely finished before Finn’s look shut him up.

The photo went up in the group chat instantly.

Me in my pink dress, Finn in black, standing side by side, hands locked.

The chat exploded.

“Who’s that?”

“I thought tonight was about a 200-pound girl?”

“Did Finn swap partners last second?”

The buzz-cut guy replied with one line:

No swap. She’s Allie.

The group went quiet.

Then it exploded again.

Some thought it was fake. Some demanded to know if I’d had surgery.

Most tagged Justin.

You gave up a girl like that in a bet?

Bro, what were you thinking?

You bet 5K she wouldn’t show. That’s the most expensive L I’ve ever seen.

Justin’s phone kept buzzing.

He was reading them all-his face dark.

Rachel sat right next to him, looking just as tense.

He’d been staring at Finn and me the whole time.

We were still holding hands.

He couldn’t take it anymore. He walked over.

“Alright, that’s enough.”

Justin’s voice was cold. “You got your photo. Why are you still holding her hand?”

Before Finn could answer, Rachel grabbed Justin’s arm.

“It’s part of the game. Don’t make it weird.”

She said that-but her hand was gripping him like she was afraid he’d walk away.

He shook her off.

“I know it’s a game.” He looked at me.

“But the third one is a bridal carry. That’s not necessary.”

The room went quiet again.

Finn just looked at him. “You don’t get to decide what’s necessary.”

He let go of my hand.

Before I could react, one hand slid to my waist, the other under my knees.

I was lifted off the ground.

I grabbed his neck out of instinct.

He held me steady and looked down at Justin.

“Start the clock.”
