My Fiancé Favors My Twin Sister Chapter 02

My Fiancé Favors My Twin Sister Chapter 02

The room went dead silent.

Pierce didn’t answer.

His face hardened.

He grabbed Saskia, who was still stroking her new bag, and pulled her toward the door.

Then he stopped and turned back.

“Linnea, you’ve always been like this.”

“Always ruining the mood. Never satisfied. It’s honestly exhausting.”

His eyes were cold, mocking—

like he’d already decided I was the bitter one.

“Saskia is your sister.”

“You’re jealous over something this small? It’s ridiculous.”

Over his broad shoulder, Saskia lifted her gaze.

She didn’t say a word.

She just gave me a small, victorious smile.

Sourness spread through my chest.

It was always like this.

Every time I showed even a hint of unhappiness, I got lectured.

Told I wasn’t being understanding enough.

Not gracious enough.

That I was making a big deal out of nothing.

And they’d walk away—together—like I didn’t exist.

Just like now.

I looked at the torn gift box. Two macarons sat inside.

I should’ve known.

That small sliver of hope I’d held onto—it was pointless.

I’d told myself I was done expecting anything from them.

But every time, with Saskia around, I was the one left behind.

The year we graduated, someone upstairs caused a fire late at night.

It spread fast. Everyone ran.

Saskia and I were trapped because the old lock jammed.

Firefighters arrived. They rushed to the smaller room first—to get me.

But Pierce cut in.

“Save the one in the master bedroom first! She’s terrified of fire!”

Flames crept in under the door.

The heat was unbearable. Smoke choked my lungs.

Afterward, he held me and tried to explain.

“Linnea, we’ve all known each other since we were kids.”

“That friendship was supposed to be simple. But then I fell for you.”

“And being with you—it always felt like I owed Saskia something. Like we broke something between us.”

I understood. Or I told myself I did.

So I learned to give in. To make space for her.

But my patience never bought us closer.

It only bought Pierce’s bias toward her.

And Saskia’s entitlement.

Now I finally saw clearly.

I shouldn’t keep following him.

I threw the gift box in the trash. The two macarons went with it.
