The Luna They Never Made Room For Chapter 08

The Luna They Never Made Room For Chapter 08

Eight years pass in the blink of an eye.

After leaving the pack, I go straight to the Royal Pack, where the Alpha King resides.

Since the university I had once dreamed of is no longer an option, I start working to save money while preparing to take the entrance exams again.

Then, one night after finishing a late shift, I discover a rogue secretly crossing the border of the Werewolf Realm, apparently planning to attack a nearby pack.

I shift immediately and fight back while sending out an alert for reinforcements. That night, I stand alongside the Royal Warriors who arrive and help defend the border.

When word of what I did reaches the Alpha King, he makes an exception and gives me a chance.

Not only does he admit me to Royal Fang Academy, the prestigious werewolf academy I once dreamed of attending and the finest in the entire Realm, but he also arranges for me to train with the Royal Warrior Unit.

Eight years later, I am now the deputy captain of the Royal Warrior Unit.

One day, I am invited to attend a royal charity event.

The square is packed with people, with Alphas, Lunas, and pack members from across the Realm gathered together.

Then, in one corner of the square, I notice a gray-haired man clutching a stack of missing-person flyers, handing them out to anyone who walks past.

My photo and name are printed on every one.

I recognize him instantly.

It is my beta father.

Eight years have aged him almost beyond recognition. Even now, I can hardly connect this white-haired, weathered man with the quiet father I remember from my childhood.

But even through the crowded square, he recognizes me at once.

The flyer slips from his hand and lands on the ground.

He does not even bother to pick it up. He pushes desperately through the crowd and rushes toward

“Annie?”

His voice is hoarse and trembling, tears slipping down the wrinkles on his face.

There are still plenty of Alphas and Lunas around us. I do not want our reunion to become a spectacle, so I simply nod calmly and gesture for him to follow me to a nearby lounge.

Once the door closes, shutting out the noise from outside, he finally breaks down.

He bends forward, his shoulders shaking violently.

“Annie, I’m sorry. We were fools back then. We mistreated you again and again, and we even ruined your future…”

I pick up the glass of water on the table without saying a word.

When he sees that I still do not respond, he quickly wipes away his tears and grabs my wrist.

“Come home with Dad, okay? Come back to the pack.”

“Your mother really can’t hold on much longer. She hasn’t gone a single day without blaming herself these past eight years, and she’s never stopped looking for you. Her health has completely deteriorated. The pack doctor says… she may not have much time left.”

His voice becomes increasingly choked.

“Her greatest wish now is simply to see you one more time.”

I slowly pull my hand free and look at him, my voice completely calm.

“I’m not going back.”

“When you chose to give up on my life all those years ago, you should have known that one day, I

might choose to give up on you too.”

My father tries to persuade me for a long time.

But when he realizes that I will not change my mind, he can only sigh with red-rimmed eyes and

leave alone.

I think that will be the last time I ever see him.

But half a month later, I receive a summons from the Werewolf Court.

The plaintiff is Tammy.

She files a lawsuit against me, claiming that our parents are elderly and no longer capable of supporting themselves, and accusing me of refusing to fulfill my legal duty to support them.

On the day of the hearing, I appear in court on time.

Tammy sits confidently at the plaintiff’s table, dressed impeccably with flawless makeup.

My father sits beside her, looking exhausted, as if he has aged another decade overnight.

Tammy lifts her chin and speaks clearly enough for the entire courtroom to hear.

“Annie is the eldest daughter of our family. She has a responsibility to support our parents.”

“She is now a Royal Warrior with a substantial income, yet she has abandoned her elderly parents and refuses to provide financial support. I ask the court to order her to pay monthly support and

cover all of our mother’s medical expenses.’

Whispers immediately spread through the gallery.

Some people shake their heads. Others quietly comment among themselves.

“She won’t even support her own parents? That’s heartless.”

“I heard she’s a Royal Warrior. She makes plenty of money. How could she refuse to pay her parents’ medical bills?”

I do not explain myself. I simply signal to my lawyer to submit the evidence we have prepared, piece

by piece.

Then I slowly speak, “Growing up, I didn’t even have a bed that truly belonged to me.”

“The college tuition I worked so hard to save was taken from me and spent on a luxury handbag for

Tammy.”

“Without my consent, they rejected my university admission and forced me to repeat a year, simply so I could attend school alongside Tammy.”

“And when Tammy was in danger, she pushed me forward herself to take the knife.”

The courtroom gradually falls silent.

I raise my eyes and look directly at Tammy in the plaintiff’s seat.

“Now she tells me that I have a responsibility to support my parents.”

I give a faint smile.

“Then let me ask one question.”

“Is that fair?”
