My Online Boyfriend Lives In The Next Room Chapter 11

My Online Boyfriend Lives In The Next Room Chapter 11

Three days later, everything changed.

Graham made up a reason and fired me.

I hadn’t done anything wrong. My performance had always been solid. But I’d made an enemy of the branch manager’s daughter. That was enough.

I’d been planning to give Sloane her money back. Now? She could consider my silence bought and paid for

After losing my job, I stayed home and figured out my next move.

I could find another bank job. Safe. Predictable.

Or I could go all in on the fellowship and bet on something bigger.

I chose the latter.

I went back through every course I’d taken and studied it again. I pulled every finance resource I could find

and taught myself the rest.

The fellowship would hold a final capstone assessment in three months. The top three scorers would be invited overseas for a global finance networking gala.

The guest list was full of industry giants and billionaires. The kind of room I needed to be in.

I set one goal: top three.

I moved back into the apartment. Alistair moved into his family estate.

1 unblocked his number.

in the bathroom, I found several new bottles of his body wash lined up on the shelf. There was no way he could use all of these before they expired.

Clearly, I’d have to help Couldn’t let them go to waste.

After showering, I lay down on the bed.

The covers smelled like him.

The comments flashed across my vision. [Alistair once spent an entire night sleeping in Laurel’s bed.]

[He literally dumped a glass of water on his own mattress just so he’d have an excuse to use hers.]

[So he came and slept in Laurel’s bed instead.]

[That’s exactly the kind of thing an obsessive man does.]

Alistair had actually slept in my bed?

When had that happened?

The thought sent a jolt of electricity through me.

Apparently, possessive behavior was only creepy when the guy wasn’t six-three with a face like that.

If it had been anyone else, I probably would have called 911.

But picturing Alistair in my bed was a completely different story.

My pulse spiked. My body grew even warmer.

Under the covers, it felt like being wrapped in his arms.

I tried to shake it off.

The comments lit up again. [Oh wow. Turns out she’s got obsessive tendencies too.]

[She’s actually into the whole possessive thing, isn’t she?]

[A normal person could never handle this.]

[I’m even starting to ship them.]

I thought about the night Sloane met Alistair at the hotel.

What actually happened that night? Where did the hickey come from?

Sloane wasn’t exactly known for telling the truth. Maybe I could find out without asking directly.

I called Alistair.

The phone rang several times before he answered.

“Alistair?” My voice came out smaller than I meant it to. “Are you asleep?”

I heard running water in the background, getting louder as he brought the phone closer.

His breathing came through, deep and echoing slightly against the tiles. “I’m in the shower. What’s up?”

My ears burned. The question died in my throat.

“It’s nothing. Go finish your shower.”

The truth was, I hadn’t figured out how to ask.

I couldn’t just say, “Alistair, did you… sleep with Sloane?”

That was a line I wasn’t ready to cross.

Forget it. I wouldn’t ask. Not yet.
