The System Said I Wasn’t the Heroine, So I Left My Alpha and He Broke Down Chapter 05

I pressed my lips together and spoke awkwardly.

“You don’t have to, Adrian. I’m almost better now. I don’t really need to bite anyone anymore.”

Maybe it was just my imagination, but Adrian’s face seemed to turn a little paler. He slowly stopped walking and looked at me in silence.

“Better? Since when…?”

I nodded.

And…

“I made an appointment with a behavioral therapist. I’ve already started dealing with it. And. thank you for helping me all these years.”

Adrian froze where he stood and didn’t say another word. But the Alpha pressure around him suddenly grew heavier, and even his scent seemed to turn cold. He wasn’t moving, so I could only stand there awkwardly too.

Then I spotted a familiar boy walking past us and immediately hurried after him.

“Ryan! What a coincidence. You’re going to school too?”

Ryan looked at me in silence. His expression made it painfully obvious that he thought I’d just asked a completely pointless question. I quickly tried to catch up with him, but someone suddenly grabbed my arm.

A familiar Scent closed in around me. Adrian’s lips looked unusually pale.

“When did you make the appointment?”

This weekend, I answered silently in my head. But before I could say anything out loud, I noticed Adrian’s gaze had dropped to my wrist. There was a deep bite mark there.

I’d done it to myself last night. I immediately tugged my sleeve down to cover it, pulled my arm out of Adrian’s grip, and hurriedly said that I needed to talk to Ryan before rushing after him. The moment I escaped that oppressive Alpha pressure, I could finally breathe again.

Still, I couldn’t stop myself from glancing back at Adrian. He was still standing exactly where I’d left him, his head lowered, completely motionless. I couldn’t see his expression.

All I could see was the pale line of his neck. The system sounded absolutely delighted.

[What are you two side characters talking about? Did you just tell the male lead you’re cured?]

[Look how happy he is! He’s so thrilled he apparently forgot how to walk. He’s just standing there

like a statue.]

I turned back around. Ryan pushed his glasses up his nose.

“What was that about a behavioral therapist?”

I pulled up my sleeve and showed him the bite mark, then briefly explained my condition. Ryan had always trusted logic above everything else. The entire way to class, he analyzed the possible causes of my biting dependency and went over different ways to treat it.

Meanwhile, the system kept feeding me spoilers about what would happen next. One was analyzing my condition in the real world while the other spoiled the plot inside my head. By the time I came back to my senses, my head felt ready to explode, and it was already lunchtime. Someone walked up to my desk and blocked the light.

I looked

Adrian had already returned to his own seat. And there was still a cup of freshly squeezed juice sitting in front of me.
Usually, after school, Adrian would take my cup home with him, wash it, then bring it back the next morning filled with juice. But I’d gone home on my own yesterday. So this cup was obviously new.

I quietly glanced toward Adrian and immediately met his eyes. He turned away at once. Then I noticed the new cup sitting on his desk.

It was clearly part of a matching set with mine. A strange feeling stirred in my chest as I slowly finished the juice. I had just started to get up to wash the cup when Adrian walked past me again.

He was obviously in a terrible mood. Normally, he would wait until I finished drinking, then take both cups to wash them together. Today, he didn’t touch mine.

But when he passed my desk, he walked unusually slowly. So slowly that even Ryan, who had been working on a worksheet beside me, noticed something was off and looked up at him with a frown. I couldn’t stop myself from calling out.

“Adrian.”

He stopped and turned to look at me. His expression was still cold, but there was an unmistakable flicker of expectation in his eyes. The system immediately spoke up.

[Don’t tell me you’re about to make the male lead wash your cup again.]

[Side character, try having a little conscience. Just because the male lead has a good temper doesn’t

mean you should keep taking advantage of him.]
