The Female Hybrid Everyone Hated Chapter 17

The Female Hybrid Everyone Hated Chapter 17

Zane stepped out first, walking with a determined look that told me he was about to do something bad.

He was not alone.

Zane had Rose by the throat, his hands were locked around her neck, her heels barely touching the ground. her composure completely and finally gone. She clawed at his hand. He didn’t seem to notice /He walked through the clearing like she weighed nothing and dropped her in the dirt in front of my grave.

“Let me go!! I didn’t do anything”

“Its not my fault she killed herself”

“She lost and I am close to winning”

I watched Rose scream and struggle wretchedly.

“Keep quiet or I’ll end you way much faster” Zane grabbed her tight, squeezing her neck and bringing her close to his face, once he was done talking he threw her and she hit the ground hard.

Behind Zane, Brian appeared — and behind Brian, dozens of vampires materialized from the tree line. moving in absolute silence, spreading wide across the clearing with the cold efficiency of creatures who had been doing this for centuries. They didn’t speak. They didn’t need to.

Dorian turned,and frowned.

Behind him, his own pack had assembled – dozens of wolves, drawn by the presence of the vampires in their territory, spreading to match the line across the clearing.

Two armies standing across my grave.

Dorian stepped forward. “What is the meaning of—”

“Sit down Dorian,” Zane said. He wasn’t looking at him. He was looking at my grave. “This is almost over.”

“You bring vampires into my territory, you drag my wife—”

“YOUR WIFE.” Zane turned. And for the first time the ancient stillness cracked completely open. “Your wife is the reason that grave exists. So yes. I dragged her here. Because she was going to watch this.”

Rose was still on the ground, one hand pressed to her throat, her silver hair fallen loose around her face. She looked at the grave. Something moved across her expression, trust me it absolutely did not look like guilt, something faster and more calculating – and then she locked it away.

Brian crouched beside her and pressed two fingers to her temple.

She went rigid.

“Mountain ash binding.” he said pleasantly. “She won’t be going anywhere.”

He stood up and reached into his satchel to pull out a leather pouch.

Dorian took a step toward him.

“I wouldn’t.” Victor said from behind Dorian’s shoulder, his hand positioned at Dorian’s heart region from behind ready to remove it if he made a move.

Dorian and his pack were caught off guard and with this nobody had seen him move.

It was kind of expected as Vampires were indeed faster than werewolves.

Dorian went still.

“Now!”

Brian shouted and walked forward then tossed a bottle of mountain ash to the ground and swiftly the particles moved and formed a circle – around Dorian, around Aldric, around Tyson and Victor – trailing mountain ash from the pouch in a thin, continuous line.

He caught them off guard so they couldn’t escape and unfortunately only Victor was fast enough to escape. when Tyson tried to move Dorian caught his hand and didn’t let him as he noticed something was up.

Brian’s face was completely calm. His hands were completely steady. He sealed the circle with a single clap and the ash blazed pale blue.

Three men stood inside it.

“NOO, Tyson” Zane shouted, seeing as Tyson couldn’t make it out.

But Tyson nodded and said.

“It’s okay”

“Brian, what the hell are you doing trapping us. Stop it now” Aldric’s voice sounded loud immediately he knew what was going on. The voice of a man who knew exactly what mountain ash meant in the hands of someone who knew how to use it. “Think very carefully about what you’re doing.”

I have, Brian said. He tucked the empty pouch away and looked at Aldric with something that wasn’t quite hatred but was in the same family. “I thought about it for three days. Would you like to know what I kept coming back to?” He tilted his head. “Yara despirately came to me. She sat in my chair for four hours and let me take enough blood to make her grey and unsteady, and she walked straight out of my shop and back to her responsibilities because that was who she was.”

He paused.

“She wanted me to do a forbidden spell on her so she could die and end her suffering and pain”

“I tried, I tried…I did all my possible best to convince her to stop, to tell her that hope wasn’t lost but did you know what I saw in her eyes?”

“Nothing. I was nothing. She was already dead inside, she only just wanted to make it happen”

“And you…you all put her in a cell and injected her with wolfsbane every hour.”

Aldric said nothing.

“So yes, Brian said. “I have thought about it and I’m glad I’m able to

He began to cast the spell and his voice as he casted the spell was not quiet.

It started low- a vibration in the ground that moved up through the soles of everyone’s feet, a frequency that had no name, the sound of something ancient and irreversible being invoked. The pale blue circle blazed brighter. Shadows twisted.

Tyson felt it first.

He looked down at his own hands at the Alpha power that had lived in his blood since birth, that steady deep wolf-heat that had always been the truest thing he knew about himself – and watched it begin to pull away from him like a tide going out.

He looked up. “Brian don’t stop-”

I’m sorry Tyson,” Brian said. And he sounded it. “But you were inside the circle.”

Tyson looked at my grave.

Then he looked at Brian.

“Do it,” he said quietly.

Brian hesitated till he got an approval from Zane.

“Do it,” Tyson said again. “I was with them hurting her when I should have been standing with her. This is right. Do it Brian”

He closed his eyes.

The wolf left him.

I watched it go. That enormous dark Alpha power – the thing that had made him the most feared wolf in the territory for twenty years – simply departing, like smoke, like a long exhale. Leaving behind a man on his knees in the dirt who looked lighter and smaller and somehow, impossibly, more real than I had ever

seen him.

Aldric fought it.

Of course he did

he was the most powerful warlock in the territory and he threw everything he had at Brian’s circle, spell after counter-spell, his hands moving with desperate precision, and for a few seconds the pale blue light flickered and Brian’s jaw tightened with effort-

And then Brian set his feet and pushed back and the circle blazed full and Aldric’s magic extinguished all at

once.

Every enchantment. Every binding. Every thread of power woven through his blood over decades of study and sacrifice was gone, like a library burning to nothing in a single night.

Aldric dropped to his knees with a sound I had never heard from him. Not a word. Just a sound. The sound of something being unmade.

He pressed both hands to the ground and shook.

Dorian lasted longest as he was a Lycan King with centuries of power flowing in him. He fought the binding with everything the oldest bloodline in the supernatural world could offer and Brian bled from the nose and still did not stop and the circle held and held and held –

Until it didn’t have to anymore.

Dorian’s power didn’t leave him like the others.

It shattered like glass struck from the inside and he vomited a whole lot of blood just like the others. One moment it was there – vast and ancient and absolute – and the next it was everywhere and nowhere. dissolving into the cold morning air over my grave, and the Lycan King fell forward onto his hands with a cry that shook the trees.

Three powerful men had become Human now and they were all on their knees in the dirt around my grave

“You all hurt Yara in ways you didn’t know, ill advice you say those words of apology to her grave now”

Tyson raised his head ready to speak.
