My Alpha Ordered My Heart Cut Out for His Mistress Chapter 08

The Grand Council Hall fell silent as Paxton’s desperation reached its peak. I could see it in his eyes-that wild, cornered look of a predator realizing he had become prey. His gaze darted between me and the assembled Alphas, calculating his options and finding none.

“You think you’ve won?” he snarled, rising to his feet despite Forest’s restraining hand. “You think a royal title changes anything between us?”

I stood tall, feeling the weight of every eye in the room. The golden Royal Aura pulsed beneath my skin, responding to my emotions like a living thing.

“We were fated,” Paxton continued, his voice dropping to that intimate tone he’d once used to make me feel special. Now it just made my skin crawl. “The Moon Goddess herself bound us together.”

“An accident,” I replied coldly. “One that will be corrected today.”

Something dangerous flashed in his eyes. I recognized that look-the same one he’d had when he ordered my imprisonment, when he plotted to harvest my heart.

“You cannot escape what we are to each other,” he growled, stepping toward me.

Forest moved to intercept him, but I raised my hand. “Let him try.”

Paxton’s face twisted into something ugly as he realized what I was offering-a final

confrontation. Without warning, he released his Alpha pheromones-a suffocating wave of dominance that filled the chamber.

Several nearby Alphas flinched, their wolves instinctively responding to the display of power. Even Forest’s jaw tightened as he fought against the compulsion.

“I am your Alpha!” Paxton roared, his voice amplified by power that had been his birthright.

“Bow to me, Elena!”

The command hit me like a physical blow. My knees buckled slightly as the weight of his authority pressed down on me. This was what he had always counted on-the mate bond that made him my Alpha, the connection that had kept me tethered to him even through imprisonment and betrayal.

I could feel it-the insidious pressure trying to force my submission, to make me kneel before him one last time.

But something else rose within me, something stronger than any mate bond.

The Royal Aura surged through my veins like liquid gold, meeting Paxton’s command with resistance that made the air between us crackle with energy.

“No,” I said simply.

Paxton’s eyes widened in disbelief. “What did you say to me?”

“I said no.” My voice grew stronger, amplified by the power that was my birthright. “I am not yours to command.”

The golden light in my eyes intensified, casting long shadows across the marble floor. I could hear gasps from the assembled Alphas as they witnessed something few had ever seen-a Royal Lycan in full power.

“I, Elena Hamilton,” I began, my voice resonating through the hall, “reject you, Paxton Meyer, as my mate.”

The words seemed to hang in the air between us, heavy with ancient power.

“I reject your name, your pack, and your blood.”

Paxton lunged forward, his face contorted with rage and fear. “You can’t! The bond can’t be

broken!”

“I reject the bond that was forced upon me,” I continued, each word striking him like a physical blow. “I reclaim my freedom, my power, and my future.”

The air around us began to shimmer as the mate bond-that invisible thread that had connected us for so long-began to vibrate with tension.

“I reject you,” I said one final time, my voice cutting through him like a blade.

The bond snapped.

A visible shockwave rippled through the room, knocking several nearby Alphas backward. The sound was like thunder in a closed space-a primal, terrible noise that seemed to come from everywhere and nowhere at once.

Paxton screamed-a sound of pure agony that chilled my blood despite everything he had done to me. His hands clutched at his chest as if trying to hold together something that was tearing apart from within.

“No!” he howled, falling to his knees. “It can’t be broken! It can’t!”

But it had been broken. The Alpha aura that had surrounded him since birth evaporated like

morning mist in sunlight, leaving him looking smaller, older, pathetic.

His skin seemed to wither before our eyes, fine lines appearing around his mouth and eyes. His hair, once glossy black, now showed streaks of gray at the temples.

“The price of rejection,” Forest murmured beside me, his voice carrying only to my ears. “His wolf is paying for the broken bond.”

Paxton’s body convulsed violently. He doubled over, a wet, terrible sound coming from deep in his chest. When he straightened again, his mouth was stained with crimson.

Blood dripped from his chin as he stared up at me with eyes that no longer held any power.

“You’ve destroyed me,” he whispered, his voice broken.

I looked down at him, feeling nothing but a strange emptiness where the bond had once been.

“No, Paxton,” I replied softly. “You destroyed yourself.”
