The Price of Betraying a Mafia Princess Chapter 09

Luca’s eyes flickered.

Then he answered firmly, “I was working late. You know how much Dad expects from me. How

could I let him down?”

“My company has a major project coming up. I spent the whole night in my office preparing the

proposal.”

I ignored him and smiled at the panicked Iris. “What about you? Where were you last night?”

Her face turned deathly pale. “I… I was home with my child. No. I mean…”

The more she talked, the more she tripped over her words.

Luca immediately cut her off. “Iris was home with Noah last night. I was alone at the office. Aurora,

you have to believe me.”

I smiled and swiped across my phone.

When Luca saw that I wasn’t saying anything, he thought I had believed him.

He reached out, trying to pull me into his arms. “Aurora, I really didn’t betray you.”

The next second, I stepped back sharply and played a video.

As soon as it started, Iris’s breathless voice came through.

“Luca… harder. Yes… right there. Careful… the desk is too hard.”

Then came Luca’s low, hoarse voice.

“Baby, you really know how to enjoy yourself. You’re so much better than the dry, boring woman I

have at home.”

The sound in the video was painfully clear, and at the quiet entrance of the preschool, every word

cut through the air.

I handed the phone to him and smiled. “Your Iris sent this to me herself. The timestamp is from last

night.”

Gasps broke out around us.

Several adults immediately covered their kids‘ ears and started cursing.

“What the hell are they saying? Disgusting.”

“Oh my God. They really did that in the office, and he claimed he was working alone.”

“This man is trash. He lived off the Moretti family while doing this behind their daughter’s back.”

Luca stood there stunned, the color draining from his face.

Clearly, he had never imagined Iris would send those videos to me.

Then he spun toward her, eyes blazing. “Why would you send her that? Are you out of your mind?”

Iris was finally pushed over the edge.

She raised her head sharply, tears spilling down her face, and screamed until her voice cracked.

“Why shouldn’t I send it? Luca, you clearly don’t love her. Why don’t you have the guts to admit it?”

Then she took out her phone with shaking hands and played an audio recording.

“The one at home? Sleeping with her is like sleeping with a log. She disgusts me. Baby, you’re still the best. You’re sweet and thoughtful.”

The crowd exploded.

“Oh my God. Luca is disgusting.”

“Iris isn’t any better. She knew he was married and still got involved.”

Iris wiped away her tears and looked at Luca with a cold smile. “No wonder you’ve slept with me for five years but never wanted to divorce her. So that’s what you couldn’t let go of. The money.”

“In the end, you’re just a useless man living off your wife.”

Luca slapped her hard across the face.

Iris staggered back. Then she put Noah down and lunged at Luca like a madwoman. “You hit me? I gave you children, and you hit me?”

The two of them started fighting, and the scene dissolved into chaos.

The admissions director’s face turned pale.

“Security! Get them out of here. People like this aren’t welcome at Kensington School. And Noah‘ enrollment application is canceled immediately.”

I didn’t care about them anymore.

I took my father’s arm and left.

In the days that followed, Luca tried countless times to reach me through other people.

He cried and begged me to save him just this once, for the sake of our five–year marriage.

My lawyer gave him one answer for me: no.

I handed every piece of evidence to the lawyers, including records of his hidden asset transfers and misappropriation of company funds.

My father pulled every string he could, and Luca’s company quickly collapsed.

Luca became a pariah. Everyone turned on him.

In the end, under pressure from every side, he signed the divorce agreement.

The day I returned home, Vivian stood at the door holding my brother, who had just turned one

month old.

She looked at me tentatively, worry in her voice. “Aurora… are you okay?”

I paused.

This woman was so gentle.

No wonder even my father, who had loved my mother so deeply, had fallen for her.

That was good.

There was always a chance to find love again.

I smiled faintly. “I’m okay. Thank you, Vivian.“.

The moment I called her by her name, Vivian’s eyes reddened.

She pulled me into her arms and cried. “Silly girl. From now on, we’ll be okay. No one’s ever going to hurt you again.”

I leaned against her shoulder, and the tears I had held back finally fell.

My five–year marriage was finally over.

And I could finally begin again.
