The Price of Betraying a Mafia Princess Chapter 02

After that, I called Luca.

It took him a long time to answer, and when he finally did, impatience sharpened his voice.

“Honey, I told you something urgent came up at the office. Why are you calling?”

“Oh, right,” I said softly. “How could I forget you’re busy? I just wanted to tell you my father is on his way to your office. He said he was nearby and wanted to check on you.”

The other end went silent, followed by a burst of panic.

“Dad’s coming? Okay. I’ll get ready.”

Then he hung up.

I smirked.

A moment later, I looked up and saw him rush out of the villa with his clothes half-buttoned.

Iris stood in the doorway, eyes red and full of reluctance.

My father was busy. Why would he suddenly go to Luca’s office?

I had lied.

So what?

I simply couldn’t stand seeing them happy.

After Luca left, I knocked on Iris’s door.

She thought Luca had come back and rushed over, calling sweetly. “Luca! I knew you couldn’t bear to leave me.”

The second she saw me, she went still.

She stumbled back two steps. “Mrs. Davis… No. Please don’t get me wrong. What I said just now… I mean, it’s not what you think.”

Disgust rose in me before I could stop it. “So you had the guts to go after my husband, but not to admit it? Iris, you’re pathetic. What am I supposed to do with you?”

She stood dazed for a second before she finally straightened, met my eyes, and smiled.

“Mrs. Davis, if you already know, why come here and ask? Don’t you think you look ridiculous right now?”

I arched a brow. I hadn’t expected her to have enough spine to talk back. “Ridiculous? What’s ridiculous about me?”

Iris lifted her chin. There wasn’t a shred of guilt in her eyes, only contempt. “You know Luca doesn’t love you, but you still cling to him like a desperate woman. You think you can win a man’s heart with money?”

The more she spoke, the more worked up she became, and her voice climbed higher. “Luca has been sick of you for years. Why else do you think he never got you pregnant in five years?”

She laughed. “You don’t even know, do you? He’s been secretly giving you birth control so you could never have his child. If I were you, I’d have fucked off a long time ago.”

I listened quietly without interrupting. If anything, I almost found it funny.

I crossed my arms, glanced around the villa behind her, and slapped her. “So what if you gave birth to his child? As long as he hasn’t divorced me, you’ll still be his mistress, and your son will still be his bastard.”

“And this house behind you? It was paid for with marital assets. If anyone should fuck off, it’s you.”

“You…” The slap snapped her head to the side. She turned back and stared at me in disbelief. “You! You hit me?”

I smiled, pulled the diamond ring off my finger, and tossed it into the drainage channel by the door.

“Congrats. You can have the trash I threw away.”

Her face went pale, but she still held her ground and said, “What are you so proud of? Luca Davis is a big name now. He’s famous and powerful. He doesn’t need you anymore. One word from me and he’ll divorce you.”

I laughed because she had actually managed to annoy me. “Really? Then we’ll see who he chooses tomorrow.”

With that, I didn’t give her another chance to answer before I turned and left.

Luca didn’t come home that night, but he didn’t contact me either.

Apparently, Iris was still a coward. She didn’t even dare tell him I had slapped her.

I slept just fine, and the next morning, I got into my assistant’s car.

“Let’s go,” I said. “Kensington School.”

I wanted to see what Luca looked like as a father.
