Declan’s composure cracked, visibly.

“Aurora, we didn’t have to end up here.”

“Isolde is my childhood friend and Darkwater Pack’s marine consultant. But you used animal protection as an excuse to lead an attack against her.”

“No matter how much you sulk, no matter how crazy you act, it doesn’t change the fact that you were the one who started this.”

Listening to him drag up the same old accusations, I didn’t feel wronged.

Just hollow.

“Isolde Evans told me herself. After she inherited Evans Marine Park, she discovered the facility was running captive shows and illegal training programs.”

“She said the board and senior staff had stripped her of real power. She was furious but too afraid to speak up.”

“She asked me to be her voice.”

“I went to the marine park myself. I saw dolphins forced to jump through hoops over and over. I saw belugas circling in tanks too small for them to turn around. I saw trainers using noise deprivation and starvation to make them perform.”

“After I confirmed it was all true, I filed reports with the Pack council and the animal welfare board.”

“Tell me. What exactly did I do wrong?”

Declan’s gaze wavered.

Just then, another speedboat pulled alongside the cruise ship.

Isolde Evans stepped off.

She wore a white trench coat, her eyes rimmed with red, looking like a flower bent by the ocean wind.

“Declan, please stop fighting with Aurora over me.”

“Yes, her online campaign pushed me to the edge. Evans Marine Park was forced to shut down, and I almost didn’t survive it.”

“But after a year of isolation, Aurora must know she was wrong by now.”

“She’s just too proud to admit it.”

The moment she appeared, the flicker of doubt in Declan’s eyes went completely dark.

“Aurora, Isolde is too kind for her own good. That’s exactly why you were able to push her into severe depression.”

“Evans Marine Park is everything her father left her. There was no board takeover like you claimed.”

“She studied marine biology. She loves ocean animals more than anyone.”

“And you’re still lying.”

A flash of triumph crossed Isolde’s eyes.

She quickly turned to me, eyes glistening again.

“Aurora, I know you hate me.”

“But belugas are loyal for life. They don’t bond with a human the way you’re imagining.”

“You can’t use a wild animal to hurt Declan just because you resent him.”

Every word dripped with gentle concern, as if she truly had my best interests at heart.

And every word lit a fresh fire in Declan.

“Aurora, if you had half of Isolde’s sense, we never would have come to this.”

“I don’t have time to keep playing your games. Get on the ship. Now.”

“Pack media is already waiting at the port. After the apology, you’ll still be Darkwater Pack’s Luna.”

He strode toward me.

I turned and ran without a second thought.

“I’m not leaving.”

“A beluga mates for life. And I only have one mate.”

Declan’s face went dark as a storm.

“Aurora, are you trying to disgust me on purpose?”

“After everything I’ve done for you, you’re saying I can’t measure up to a whale?”

“Don’t forget, this island belongs to Darkwater Pack. Whether you stay or go is not your decision.”

He threw me over his shoulder and carried me onto the yacht.

The moment the silver wards fell out of range, my wolf thrashed and snarled inside my chest.

But after a year of wolfsbane suppressant, she was as weak as a newborn pup.

The yacht engine roared to life.

From the deep ocean came a wail of grief.

The moon-white beluga burst through the waves and chased after us with everything it had.
