The Intern Punishes Her Billionaire Boss Chapter 02 The Unfair New Rules

The so-called “rectification” of me started soon enough.

First, the Administration Department approached me, their tone euphemistic. “Scarlett, Mr. Cole has implemented a strict clock-in policy for everyone. What do you think?”

In the ten years since I founded the company, I had never once clocked in like everyone else. It was one of my privileges as the founder. I looked at the embarrassed administrative supervisor and nodded. “Okay, I understand.”

The next day, I was called to a meeting by the HR Department.

“Scarlett, a colleague has reported that you were browsing non-work-related websites during working hours. This… isn’t a good look.”

I looked at the screenshot the HR person handed me. It was a page of a home design forum that I had been visiting for inspiration for ten years.

“Who reported me?” I asked.

The HR person stammered, “Well… we’re obliged to keep the whistleblower’s identity confidential.”

“Fine, I’ll be more careful in the future.”

I didn’t take it seriously. I thought it was just a childish game. But I underestimated how much Julian indulged her.

A week later, the company issued a new “Employee Conduct Code,” which was over a hundred clauses long, detailing everything from how to arrange desktop files, what kind of cups to use for drinking water, to not being allowed to sleep prone during lunch breaks. At the bottom was Julian’s signature. And the drafter of this code was none other than Ivy.

She was promoted to the CEO’s special assistant, a remarkable leap, Her workstation was moved from the open – plan Design Department to a separate cubicle next to the CEO’s Office.

From then on, she patrolled the company every day, holding a small notebook, ready to record any “disciplinary violations” in her eyes.

Zoe answered a phone call because her child was sick, and Ivy noted it down. Leo was having a sandwich at his workstation while rushing a project, and Ivy issued a public reprimand.

The whole company was filled with complaints, and the working atmosphere became extremely oppressive. And I became her prime target.

The first time, it was because I had a small succulent on my desk. “Scarlett, the company stipulates that personal items are not allowed in the office area as they affect the company’s overall image.”

The second time, it was because I used my personal laptop to deal with private emails. “Scarlett, company computers are only for work. If you need to handle personal affairs, please do so after work.”

And the third time was today. Because of a glass of water, a plate of cookies, and me checking the client feedback on our recently completed project on my phone.

She stood in front of me, looking down at me like a judge. “A fine of three thousand. It’ll be deducted from your this month’s salary. Do you have any objections?”

I looked at her and slowly turned the phone screen towards her. On it was a thank you letter from the client, specifically commending the entire project team, including her as an intern.

“I was working,” I said.

She glanced at it and scoffed. “Stop making excuses. Everyone knows you slack off during working hours and even talk back to your superiors. What do you think the company should do with you?”

I found it both absurd and laughable. I stood up slowly, and the air around us seemed to freeze. Everyone stopped what they were doing and pricked up their ears to hear what was going on.

“Talk back to my superiors?” I repeated these four words, my gaze passing over her to the entire Design Department. “I’d like to ask, who here is my superior?”
