The Comments Said She’d Replace My Daughter? Not on My Watch Chapter 05

The makeup artist beside her went pale. “Ms. Hart, this really isn’t my fault. When I went into the room, she was the only one there, so I assumed she was the Hart heiress and did her makeup.”

I turned to Tessa.

“You didn’t correct her?”

“I’m sorry, ma’am. I thought the makeup artist was for me.”

“And the gown was for you too?”

She bit her lip. “Since the color isn’t one Sonny likes, I mistakenly thought it was for me.”

“Her name is Nina Hart, Tessa Rayne.” I looked down at her. “Are you provoking me?”

“I’m sorry, ma’am. Don’t be angry. I’m not worthy of it. I’ll take the dress off right now.”

“I knew no one would ever be kind to me.”

“I was just fooling myself.”

She made a show of struggling to take the dress off, but in truth, the gown stayed on and not a single tear fell.

Some people around me tried to calm me down. “Ms. Hart, let it go. The girl doesn’t seem like she

meant any harm.”

“Yeah, Ms. Hart. She’s crying so hard. Don’t make things difficult for her.”

I watched coldly.

She couldn’t afford to cry. With two hundred grand worth of makeup on her face, she wasn’t about to ruin it before she got what she wanted.

Just then, Marcus brought my daughter to the front entrance.

She wore the same outfit as before, and her wild look immediately drew every eye in the room.

With Tessa standing in front, many people started whispering when they saw my daughter.

Seeing her hesitate at the door, I walked straight over.

“Where did you go? Mom was so worried.”

She scratched her head. “Someone told me a kid I used to look out for back in my sophomore year got jumped, so I went to handle it.”

“Is the kid okay?”

She expected me to scold her after hearing that, but when she looked up, she found my eyes soft

with tenderness.

“If you need me, just say so. Relying on me makes me happy.”

She clasped my hand back. “Mom, we’re both fine.”

That was the first time she had called me Mom since coming home. I was so moved that I hugged

her on the spot.

I proudly led my daughter to the front.

“Everyone, I’m honored to introduce my daughter, Nina Hart. You’ve all seen her style. I don’t know much about young people’s tastes, but I think she looks great. What do you all think?”

Getting the first elder on board mattered. After I set the tone, others quickly chimed in. “Right, right. My son likes this kind of thing too. He calls it Y2K alternative!”

A few young heirs and heiresses crowded around my daughter. “Is that lip ring real? I’m so jealous. My mom would never let me get one. You’re lucky to have such a cool mom.’

“And your tattoos are so punk. What do they mean?”
