After I Died, the Alpha Who Abandoned Me Lost His Mind Chapter 08

Adrian began using something else to distract himself from the pain.

Revenge.

He investigated everything I had endured over the past six years.

He stripped the bar owner who had harassed me of every business he owned and had him prosecuted for

years of illegal operations.

He found the middleman who had lured me into illegally selling blood and nearly exposed me to a serious

infection, then handed all the evidence over to the police.

The two drunk men who had tried to attack me on the street were also sent to prison after their previous

cases were reopened.

Finally, Adrian turned his attention to the Carter family.

The Black Group terminated every partnership with them, bought up the Carter company’s outstanding debt, and publicly exposed evidence of years of falsified records.

The once wealthy and respected Carter family quickly went bankrupt.

The scandal involving my sister stealing the study-abroad placement that should have been mine and falsifying her academic credentials was also exposed.

My father was sentenced to prison for financial crimes.

My mother suffered a stroke from the shock and lost all feeling in one side of her body.

My sister lost the privileged life she had always taken for granted and could not even find an ordinary job.

At last, they understood what it felt like to lose everything.

Adrian stood in my mother’s hospital room, watching her curse through her tears and accuse my sister of refusing to care for her.

Then he suddenly turned toward the place where I was standing.

“Erin, do you feel any better now?”

Of course, he could not see me.

I shook my head.

“No. It isn’t enough. The person truly responsible for my death still hasn’t paid.”

Perhaps because he had seen what became of the Carter family, Adrian returned to Glasshouse Tower

unusually early that day.

But the moment he opened the door, he heard Selena speaking on the phone in the living room.

“Mom, you don’t need to worry. Erin couldn’t beat me when she was alive, and death hasn’t changed that. She only has herself to blame for standing in my way. We made Adrian believe Dad died saving him so he would keep feeling guilty and eventually make me the Luna of the Black Pack. Who could have known Erin would appear at his side? Her death was her own fault.”

Selena’s laughter grew increasingly smug.

“All I had to do was accuse her of stealing the bracelet at the engagement party and pretend to have a heart attack. That was enough to make her live like a stray dog for six years. Then I casually claimed the bracelet was missing again, and Adrian pushed her so far that she jumped from the twentieth floor. She was such a joke. That’s the price she paid for standing in my way.”

Adrian could no longer restrain himself.

He burst through the door and charged into the living room.

The crack of a slap echoed through the room.

He struck Selena so hard that she fell to the floor.

“So it was all you?”

He hit her again and again, his wolf eyes stripped of all reason.

Selena screamed and tried to dodge him, but Adrian acted as though he could not hear her.

“You deserve to die. You knew I loved her. We were so close to completing our permanent mate bond and building a home of our own. Why did you use my guilt over your father to frame her? Even your father’s death was a lie you and your mother staged.”
