After I Died, the Alpha Who Abandoned Me Lost His Mind Chapter 05

Adrian lived in a penthouse at the top of Glasshouse Tower.

I waited downstairs for a long time before he finally told security to let me up.

When the door opened, he was standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows in a black shirt.

The moment he saw me, he looked at me with open mockery.

“So you finally decided to come crawling back? Did it take you this long to realize that without me, you’re nothing?”

I forced a faint smile.

“Yes. Now I finally understand why everyone fears the Alpha of the Black Pack. But I ran so far away from

you. Why did you still have to destroy my job? Why are you so determined to ruin my life?”

My words enraged him instantly.

Adrian strode toward me and trapped me against the wall.

A crushing wave of Alpha pressure slammed into me without warning, and his cedar scent thickened until I

could barely breathe.

His control looked ready to snap.

“Because I want you to suffer. Erin, I want you to understand the price of leaving me without permission. I

want you so miserable without me that you come crawling back and beg. Only then will you understand who

treated you best. I gave you everything back then. All you had to do was apologize to Selena, and we could

have put all of this behind us. But you had the nerve to break off our engagement and say you didn’t want

What made you think you had the right to do that?”
We had never completed our permanent mate bond, yet with him standing so close, the long-dormant scent

gland at the nape of my neck still throbbed with phantom pain.

Selena stood on the other side of the living room, clearly displeased by how close Adrian and I were.

She suddenly clutched her chest and sobbed, “Erin, this is all my fault. I shouldn’t have insisted on finding that bracelet back then. If I’d known it would tear you and Adrian apart like this, I should have died years ago.”

The familiar sound of her crying shattered the last of my control.

I tore myself away from Adrian and raised my hand to slap her.

But he caught my wrist with brutal force.

“You still have the nerve to hit her? And you expect me to believe you never stole her bracelet? You’ve been bullying her all along. Keep this up, and I’ll make sure you can’t survive in this city either.”

A violent pain tore through my chest.

Couldn’t survive.

Wasn’t that exactly what he had already reduced me to?

I broke down and burst into tears.

I heard myself ask, “What exactly do you want from me? Is all of this really because I broke off our

engagement and offended the woman you grew up with?”

I looked past him at Selena, who was openly enjoying my humiliation.

“You just want to punish me for her, don’t you? Fine. I’ll get on my knees and apologize to her. Will that finally

satisfy you?”

I dropped to my knees in front of Selena and bowed my head again and again.

“I’m sorry, Ms. Moore. Everything was my fault. Please forgive me. Please ask Mr. Black to give me back this

month’s wages. I only want the $3,200 I’ve already earned.”
