After I Lost My Memory, My Star Athlete Boyfriend Said We Broke Up Chapter 16

Live comments crawled slowly across the screen in the dim light.

[Pills! There are pills on the carpet!]

[What the hell did he do last night…]

[Don’t panic. Let’s check what they are first. He’s a professional athlete; he wouldn’t mess around..

would he?]

Camille knelt and picked one up to examine it. It was ordinary melatonin.

She exhaled in relief, yet her fingers remained tight around the tablet for several seconds before she loosened her grip. Turning her head, she spotted the man curled up in the corner of the sofa.

Killian was wedged between the armrest and back cushion, his long legs drawn up, still wearing the training jacket from the night before.

His eyes were shut, his breathing heavy, deep, bruised-looking shadows beneath his eyes.

Her assistant lingered in the doorway, too nervous to step inside, and whispered. “Ms. Logan,

should we wake him…”

“Let him sleep.” Camille set the melatonin tablet on the coffee table and straightened. “Head downstairs and grab breakfast and a hangover soup.”

The assistant nodded and hurried out.

Camille stood in the living room. Her gaze swept over the two empty beer cans on the table, then settled on Killian’s huddled form on the sofa.

Even asleep, his brows stayed furrowed, as if wrestling with something inside his dreams.

She picked up the blanket that had slipped onto the floor, shook it open, and draped it over him.

Killian’s eyes flew open abruptly. Bloodshot irises locked onto Camille’s face. He stared at her through a haze of sleep, blinking sluggishly before jerking upright. “Camille.”

“Lie back down. You look ghastly.” She pulled her hand away and stepped backward. “My assistant’s getting food. If you still feel unwell after eating, take another half day off; you can skip this afternoon’s training.”

“Why are you here?” Killian’s voice was so hoarse it was barely audible. He stared at her as if he

meant to burn a hole through her skin. “I thought you didn’t care about me anymore.”

“I’m your agent. If you vanish for half a day, I need to check on you to account for your status.”

Killian studied her, the light fading slowly from his eyes. “Only because you’re my agent?”

“Yes.” Camille replied flatly. “Purely professional duty.”

The comment section exploded instantly.

[“Purely professional duty.” That cut deeper than any blade.]

[The light in his eyes just died. When he sat up, he must have hoped she came because she worried

about him.]

[But she’s telling the truth. If not for their working contract, she would never set foot here.]

Killian flopped back against the sofa, covering his eyes with one arm. A muffled, suffocated groan

rumbled in his chest. “Then leave me alone.”

“You’re certain?”

His voice came muffled from under his arm, raw with petulant frustration. “If you don’t want to

care, don’t bother. Don’t stand there telling me you’re only fulfilling your job.”

The stream of comments quieted briefly.

[He’s just lashing out. He doesn’t actually want her to leave. He can’t stand her treating him like a

business obligation.]

[But he was the one who pushed her away first, demanding she stop interfering.]

[What good does throwing a tantrum do? She really might walk out.]

Camille stood beside the sofa, watching his curled frame, and fell silent for a moment. “Very well. I’m leaving. The assistant will bring your breakfast. Remember to take your pills after you eat.”

She turned toward the front door.

Her fingers had barely brushed the doorknob when fabric rustled sharply behind her. Footsteps pounded across the floor, closing the distance in three strides.

Killian slammed a palm against the door, pushing it shut before she could pull it open. “Don’t go.”

Camille spun around, her back pressed to the door. Killian’s face hovered inches from hers.

He reeked of stale alcohol, his eyes inflamed, his gray-green eyes turbulent as a gathering storm.

“Let me go, Killian.” Her tone turned cold.

They stood deadlocked for a long moment. Slowly, Killian lowered his hand to his side, fingers digging into his palms.

Camille pulled the door open and stepped outside.

She knew this conflict with Killian was far from over. Yet she never imagined he would spiral this

recklessly.
