POV: Brennan Holt

Seeing my parents, Keira shrank behind me.

But my mother pointed at her and raged, “You whore! Elara was only five! You made Brennan abandon her,

you vicious bitch!”

“What gives you the right to make Brennan ditch Elara to pick you up? Have you no shame!”

She was livid. She rushed over and grabbed Keira by the hair.

My mother is an alpha too. Keira, an Omega, couldn’t resist her strength at all. She was slammed to the

ground and cried out in pain.

I quickly helped her up and glared at my mother. “Mom, Keira is carrying my pup. How could you lay a hand

on her?”

“Besides, what does this have to do with Keira? I went to pick her up on my own. And I’m the one who told

Maris and Elara to take a cab.”

“What kind of spell did Maris cast on you? You’re all ganging up to lie to me now.”

“Fine. I hear you. When I get back, I’ll make it up to Elara. Happy?”

My father’s face went gray. He seemed to have reached his limit.

His Alpha aura pressed down thick and suffocating, like storm clouds about to break. His hand shifted into a

wolf claw and came at me hard.

“You beast! For this Omega, you left Elara, who has moon-lung asthma, on the freezing skyway! You are a

disgrace to the Holt bloodline!”

I blocked his attack, thinking, He’s lost his mind!

After taking a few punches, I grabbed his wrist. “Enough! There are people around! That’s enough.”

But my father’s gaze was full of grief, as if he didn’t know me anymore.

“If I’d known you were this kind of monster, I would never have let you marry!”

“Maris wouldn’t have been wasted on a bastard like you for all these years! And Elara wouldn’t be dead!”

The more he spoke, the more pained he became, nearly collapsing from anger. He’s really getting old.

I caught him just in time. But he ungratefully shook me off and pulled my mother to leave.

“That’s it. Elara is dead, Maris is gone, and you don’t need to come home anymore. The Northbridge Pack

can’t tolerate a scumbag like you. I’m stripping you of your Alpha heir title.”

Seeing how serious he was, I froze.

My wolf felt it late-a wave of emptiness and pain crashing in. He couldn’t seem to find his mate and pup

anymore.

My body trembled uncontrollably. I grabbed my mother’s hand, praying none of it was true.

“Mom, tell me, what does Dad mean? Are you lying to me? What really happened to Maris and Elara?”

My voice shook so much I couldn’t form a full sentence.

My mother took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and tears streamed down.

“You left Elara on the skyway. The cold triggered her asthma attack. Her breath-mist inhaler was in the car

you took. By the time she got to the pack hospital, she was already gone.”

“Brennan, Elara is dead. Maris has left. No one will control you anymore. You’re free to chase your so-called

freedom and happiness.”

With that, my mother didn’t look at me again. She and my father walked away, leaning on each other.

I stood there stunned, my mind buzzing.

I instinctively moved to chase them, but Keira grabbed my hand. “Brennan, where are you going? The plane’s

about to take off!”

I turned and shouted at her hysterically. “I’m going to find my wife and pup! Didn’t you just hear? My pup is

dead. She’s dead!”

Keira was startled by my crazed look. But she held onto me even tighter and said urgently, “Brennan, I’m

pregnant, aren’t I?”

“We’ll have our own pup soon. You don’t love them anyway, right? It’s fine. Brennan, Elara’s dead, and that

bitch Maris is gone. Isn’t that perfect? We can finally have our own family.”

Before she could finish, I flung her hand away. “That was my wife and my pup. What are you?”

She was thrown to the ground, caught off guard.

I couldn’t be bothered to look at her. I just wanted to get home and find Maris.

I had to apologize. I had to apologize to her and Elara. I had to tell her I couldn’t live without her.

I turned to leave, but Keira clutched her stomach and cried out in pain. “Brennan! My belly hurts so much. Our

pup…”

She still had those teary, pitiful eyes, but they didn’t move me anymore.

I went straight back to the pack house.

The moment I walked in, I froze. The house was cold and empty. Maris’s unique scent of gardenia and

jasmine had completely faded away.

At that moment, ignoring my breakdown, Mrs. Gwen handed me a document-the bond dissolution papers

Maris had already signed.

I took the papers with trembling hands, and it truly hit me-Maris was really gone.
