The Entire Pack Chose My Alpha’s First Love, So I Canceled the Luna Ceremony Chapter 04

The Entire Pack Chose My Alpha’s First Love, So I Canceled the Luna Ceremony Chapter 04

After Aurora leveraged my project to secure Luna-level management clearance, she launched her own personal brand: Moonfall.

For the grand opening, she wanted a Moonfall Showcase and requested that the “future Luna” handle the opening walk.

Joseph brought it up over dinner.

“Madison, just stand in for her on stage.”

“It’s Aurora’s first venture. It’s not easy for her.”

Not only that, on the day of the event, he personally drove me to the venue.

In the dressing room, a single outfit hung on the rack. A white dress so thin the fabric was practically translucent.

I asked the stylist where the jacket was. She winced.

“Aurora specified this look. She said the concept is fragile, ethereal, broken beauty.”

I looked out the window. Storm clouds were piling up across the sky. The weather alert showed a Moonstorm hitting within the hour, the kind that destabilized wolf spirits, wrecked body temperature, and sent every sense haywire.

I picked up the dress and called Joseph.

“There’s a Moonstorm coming. This dress is way too thin. I’m not wearing it.”

It was loud on his end. He paused for two seconds.

“Madison, don’t be difficult.”

“Aurora’s been working on this for two weeks straight. If you walk out, what’s she supposed to do?”

“A little rain won’t kill you. I’ll make you some hot soup when you get home.”

Something inside me finally died.

“Joseph, if Aurora were the one standing here right now, would you tell her to walk in the rain?”

He didn’t answer.

A staff member was already at the door, urging me forward.

“Luna Madison, the livestream’s on. Over three thousand people are watching.”

I put on the dress. I walked onto the stage.

When the first raindrop fell, the crowd gasped.

Nobody called for a stop.

The staff handed out protective cloaks to the audience.

I glanced back at Aurora.

She stood under a protective cloak, smiling radiantly at the camera.

“Doesn’t the Moonstorm add such incredible atmosphere? Our brand philosophy is all about being fearless and free!”

Then the Moonstorm hit in full force. Rain came down in sheets.

The white fabric soaked through and clung to every line of my body, leaving almost nothing to the imagination.

These weren’t ordinary raindrops. The Moonstorm’s toxicity seeped through my skin, and I nearly lost control of my wolf right there on stage.

Pack members in the crowd started pulling out their phones to take pictures.

Someone whistled.

“Look at Luna Madison’s figure! She’s smoking hot!”

I tried to walk off, but my wolf was barely holding together. To make everything worse, my heel caught on the wet stage and I went down hard, crashing to the ground in front of everyone.

The viewer count on Aurora’s global livestream skyrocketed. Members from over a dozen neighboring Packs flooded in to watch me humiliate myself.

[This is Frostvale’s future Luna? She looks pathetic. How is she worthy of an Alpha?]

[Is she doing a wet T-shirt show on purpose? Does the Alpha know his mate is out here acting like this?]

Hundreds of thousands of people watched my humiliation through their screens.

I knelt in the pooling water, shaking from the cold.

By the time Joseph arrived, I had been on display for twenty minutes.

He scooped me up by the waist. His wolfraged at the sight of me hurt, pure instinct surging forward, but Joseph forced it back down because he didn’t want to embarrass Aurora.

“I’m sorry, I thought it was just a light rain. Why didn’t you shift and get out of there?”

“You’re so damn stubborn. You never know when to adapt!”

Aurora came running over with an umbrella, grabbing my hand with a face full of concern.

“Madison, are you okay? I had no idea the rain would be this bad. This is all my fault. Go change, quick, before you catch a cold.”

That’s what her mouth said. But the corners of her lips were curled upward.

The second Joseph looked up, the smile vanished.

That night, I spiked a fever.102 degrees. No surprise there.

Joseph took me to the pack hospital and stayed by my bed all night.

In the early hours of the morning, he stepped out to take a call. When he came back, he was practically glowing.

“Aurora says the livestream numbers were incredible! Orders are through the roof!”

“She wants to take you out to dinner once you’re better. To thank you properly.”

“Madison, you’re a hero! I just ordered you a designer bag as a reward!”

He was beaming. He had taken everyounce of my humiliation and repackaged it as Aurora’s triumph. And now he wanted to reward me for it.

Reward me for having my body seen by hundreds of thousands of people. For becoming the most pathetic Luna in any Pack’s memory.

That night, while Joseph was off visiting Aurora, I checked myself out and went straight to Pack headquarters.

Every core file I had built, every operational framework, every client database.

I copied it all. Every last piece.

Then I went home.

I took every gift Joseph had given me over fifteen years and packed them into a single cardboard box.

I addressed it to Aurora’s apartment. On the note, I wrote one line.

[Trash belongs in the trash. It’s all yours.]

When I was done, I placed the mate dissolution agreement on the living room table, grabbed my suitcase, and walked out.

Before I closed the door, I took one last look at the house.

Fifteen years fit into a cardboard box. All I took with me was myself.
