The Entire Pack Chose My Alpha’s First Love, So I Canceled the Luna Ceremony Chapter 03

The Entire Pack Chose My Alpha’s First Love, So I Canceled the Luna Ceremony Chapter 03

The day we got back to Frostvale territory, I went straight to the Pack’s core business headquarters.

The Luna Ceremony and the honeymoon could fall apart. Work couldn’t.

This was Frostvale Pack’s first major project since breaking into the global business rankings.

The day before the final review, I opened my laptop to check the presentation files.

The project lead’s name had been changed to Aurora.

Not just that. The draft documents, the data models, the presentation deck. Every single byline now read Aurora.

I stormed into Joseph’s office. He sat there, stone-faced.

“Aurora needs a project to prove her capabilities.”

“She just joined the Pack as a low-ranking member. Without results to show, the Elders can vote to kick her out at any time.”

“You’re already the Pack’s Luna. Just think of it as helping her out.”

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.

“So because she needs the Elders’ approval, you just handed her my project?”

“I built the core business operations system from scratch. This is our first project since making the global rankings. It’s critical. I spent four straight months on it!”

Lucia, who had apparently been listening the whole time, finally lost her patience.

“Madison, grow up.”

“I’ve been standing outside that door listening to you throw a tantrum.”

“The project belongs to the Pack. Joseph is the Alpha. He has every right to reallocate Pack resources.”

“Besides, you only managed things. Don’t forget, the Pack members did the actual work. Stop acting like you did it all yourself.”

I stared at Lucia. I almost laughed.

Four months. Four months of late nights, tracking timelines, monitoring metrics, pouring everything I had into that project.

And now I was “acting like I did it all myself.”

Joseph’s voice carried a note of weary patience.

“Madison, everyone recognizes your management skills. Changing a name on a document doesn’t erase what you’ve done as Luna.”

“But Aurora’s situation is different. She needs this.”

I smiled coldly and nodded.

“Fine. Did the team agree to this?”

He leaned back in his chair and actually smiled.

“I’m the Alpha. Every resource in Frostvale Pack falls within my authority. They don’t get to question my decisions.”

“Madison, don’t bring personal feelings into work.”

The next day at the Elders’ final review, Aurora stood in the council hall, using my slides, presenting my strategy.

She misread one of the user retention data sets. Joseph jumped in immediately, smoothing it over by saying the technical details would be supplemented later.

The project was rated the highest-contribution project of the year.

When it was over, Joseph was the first to stand and applaud. Lucia watched from the audience, beaming with pride.

Aurora bowed to the room and thanked everyone for trusting her.

The Pack members all kept their heads down.

At three that afternoon, the Pack Council issued an official notice.

Due to “strategic restructuring,” my Luna-level management clearance had been revoked. I was demoted to ordinary Pack member.

Aurora received my Luna-level clearance. She was now my superior.

My assistant Maria sent me a mind link.

[Luna, Aurora says we report directly to her from now on.]

[She also said you were too tired, and that you asked the Alpha to remove your clearance yourself.]

[Luna, we’ve worked together for five years. How could you just abandon us like that?]

I rushed to Joseph’s office. He wasn’t there.

I went to the Pack Council. The Elder on duty couldn’t meet my eyes. He said it was a joint decision by former Luna Margaret and the Alpha.

Margaret told me over the phone, “Aurora just joined our Pack. She has no foundation here. Would it kill you to step aside?”

“A Luna’s most important duty is continuing the Alpha bloodline. Leave the management to the professionals.”

I reminded her that the Luna Ceremony had been canceled. I wasn’t even officially Luna.

She laughed.

“Sweetheart, enough with the dramatics. You and the Alpha have a Mate Bond. What more do you want?”

I was quiet for a long time.

That night, back at the pack house, Joseph had made me a bowl of pasta.

“I know today was rough.”

“Once Aurora’s settled in, I’ll give the project back to you.”

I looked at him.

“And my clearance? I left the Northridge Pack to help you rebuild this one. I earned my position here, step by step. What about all of that?”

He looked away.

“It’s just a title, Madison. At the end of the day, this Pack belongs to both of us. Why do you have to obsess over labels?”

Fifteen years ago, I left the Northridge Pack. I resigned from their Council to follow him here, to help him rebuild Frostvale from nothing, to help him build his empire.

He made me start as a low-ranking member. He didn’t want anyone thinking I’d climbed the ranks because of him.

I wrote copy. I designed campaigns. I planned events. I slept in the office for four straight months before the Pack members finally started calling me the best Luna they’d ever had.

Now he had taken everything I’d bled for and handed it to Aurora on a silver platter, then told me it was just a title.

I sat in silence and finished the entire bowl of pasta.

It was the saltiest thing I’d ever tasted.
