The Entire Pack Chose My Alpha’s First Love, So I Canceled the Luna Ceremony Chapter 02

The Entire Pack Chose My Alpha’s First Love, So I Canceled the Luna Ceremony Chapter 02

Ten o’clock that night. I walked back into the pack house.

The lights in the living room were on. A bouquet of moonpetal roses sat on the table.

Joseph was leaning against the couch, waiting. The moment I stepped through the door, he pulled me into his arms.

“That video was just an accident.”

“The group chat’s already been deleted. I was never planning to actually be with her.”

“We’ve had fifteen years, Madison. Trust me.”

That familiar scent of dark cedar wrapped around me, and my eyes burned despite everything.

Our fifteen years weren’t fake.

At twenty, we lived together in an abandoned hunter’s cabin on the Pack borderlands, splitting stale bread because it was all we could afford.

At twenty-five, I sold my family’s ancestral Moonstone to help him rebuild a Frostvale Pack that was on the verge of collapse.

Three months ago, after he’d turned Frostvale into one of the top three commercial empires in the wolf territories, we completed our Mate Bond at the Moon Sanctuary. He told me he could finally give me a home. He promised I would be his only Luna.

After that, even though he let Aurora join Frostvale Pack without my consent, even though we fought about it constantly, all he ever had to do was bring up our fifteen years and I would back down. Every single time.

He kissed my forehead and pulled a moonstone necklace from his pocket, clasping it around my neck.

“A bonding gift. Thank you for marrying me.”

“Forgive me. Don’t let someone who doesn’t matter ruin what we have.”

“I already cleared the time off with the Pack Council. Our honeymoon tomorrow is still on.”

I didn’t pull my hand away.

The next day, I got on the plane.

When we landed, Joseph carried my luggage, brought me water, and knelt down to tie my shoes.

For a moment I thought we were back in that drafty hunter’s cabin, back when he always gave me the best of everything he had.

The second evening, we had dinner on the beach.

I came back from the restroom and saw him holding up his phone, filming the sunset.

Before I got close enough to speak, a sharp pain stabbed through my chest.

His voice drifted toward me on the sea breeze, soft and warm.

“Look, isn’t the sunset here beautiful?”

Aurora’s laugh came through the other end of the video call. “It’s gorgeous. I wish I could be there.”

He laughed too. “Next time, I’ll bring you.”

I stopped three yards away. My whole body went cold.

He hung up, turned around, and saw me standing there. Not a flicker of panic on his face.

“Aurora asked what it was like here. I just showed her real quick.”

He explained it like it was nothing, then pulled out my chair like it was nothing.

“Try this. Your favorite. I had the chef go easy on the spices.”

I looked at the plate. I didn’t ask questions.

He was so natural about it.

So natural that video-calling his first love during our honeymoon seemed like the most normal thing in the world.

Over the next few days, he sent Aurora photos every single day. Breakfast. Snorkeling. Deep-sea fishing. Sunset. He didn’t miss a single one.

Our honeymoon became their virtual vacation.

On the fourth night, I came out of the shower and heard him on the balcony, talking on the phone.

“Aurora, stop crying.”

“It’s not that I don’t want to bring you. Madison’s just sensitive.”

“Next month when she’s away on business, I’ll take you somewhere else. Just the two of us.”

The towel slipped from my hands and hit the floor. I didn’t even notice.

The last night, we lay on the terrace watching the stars.

He had his arm around me when he suddenly asked, “Do you think Aurora gets lonely, being in the Pack all by herself?”

I turned to look at him.

That softness in his eyes wasn’t for me.

On the flight home, I closed my eyes and pretended to sleep.

He gently guided my head onto his shoulder and tucked a blanket around me.

Then he sent Aurora a voice message. His voice was barely above a whisper, laced with a smile.

[Landed safe.]

[Next time I’ll take you somewhere even better.]

Deep inside the Mate Bond, something tore.
