I Bought the Wrong Beastman, and He Begged Me to Keep Him Chapter 03

His voice cracked around the question. I said it again.

“You said you didn’t want to, right? Then we won’t.”

“It’s not like I need it that badly.”

Adrian didn’t move. Something close to panic flickered across his face.

“But…”

I turned to leave.

Behind me, he let out a sharp gasp.

I looked back. The towel had slipped clean off, leaving his broad shoulders and narrow waist completely on display.

He caught me staring and scrambled to cover up.

But he was too flustered to manage it. His fluffy tail curled around his calves, the tip flicking like it was putting on a show just for me.

Both ears had turned so red they looked like they were burning crimson.

“Stop looking! Eyes up!”

“Haven’t you seen enough? You’re such a pervert!”

I bolted back to the bedroom before I could make it worse.

“Sorry! I wasn’t trying to look!”

Adrian watched the bathroom door slam shut. His face went completely pale, and his tail hung low behind him.

“You don’t even want to look at me…”

“Why don’t you want me anymore…”

I sank against the headboard and stared at nothing.

My best friend Tessa Merritt called and started groaning about her back before I even said hello.

“Maren, I can’t live like this anymore!”

“I thought I struck gold with this arranged marriage. Turns out Conrad’s an animal. He’s out all day working that hybrid-modification trafficking case, and he still comes home with energy to burn. The man’s stamina is inhuman.”

I almost laughed.

“You used to roast me for having the hottest hybrid on the block and still finding something to complain about.”

“Turns out you’re even worse than me.”

“Quit complaining. You don’t know how good you have it.”

She groaned.

“Seriously though, you and Adrian still aren’t on the same page? It’s been almost three years.”

“He’s just a hybrid. If he’s not working out, trade him in for a new one!”

There was a commotion on her end.

I caught a low laugh in the background. “Trade him in?”

Tessa muttered something to whoever was there, then came back to me. “Gotta go. Conrad’s threatening to move out because I won’t let him handcuff me to the headboard again. I need to talk him off the ledge.”

She hung up.

I sat there staring at the dark screen, turning her words over in my head.

“Trade him in for a new one…”

Adrian must have just stepped out of the bathroom. His footsteps stopped dead behind me.

His voice cut through the room.

“What did you just say?”
