After His Affair, I Skipped the Drama and Chased Mediterranean Sun Chapter 09

After His Affair, I Skipped the Drama and Chased Mediterranean Sun Chapter 09

I sat at an outdoor café in a small town on the Mediterranean coast.

A newly purchased collection of essays rested in my hands. I soaked in the brilliant Mediterranean sunlight

and breathed in the fragrance of unfamiliar flowers lining both sides of the street.

Before I knew it, I had been there for three months.

My phone chimed.

I hesitated for a moment, then smiled and accepted the video call.

A radiant woman appeared on the screen. She stood beneath the snow-covered peaks of the Alps, glowing

like sunlight in the heart of winter.

My future self looked at me and smiled with satisfaction.

“Evelyn, I knew you wouldn’t really give up on your life.’

‘Thank you. And congratulations. You rewrote our lives.”

My eyes burned as I looked at the healthy, uninjured version of myself ten years in the future. I smiled back.

“Thank you too. Without those calls from you, I might really have died in that freezing bathtub.”

“We should both thank ourselves.”

Because I had made a completely different choice ten years earlier, the version of me in the future who had

lost the use of her legs and been broken in body and mind ceased to exist at that exact moment.

Now, my future self was traveling the world freely.

Before ending the call, she told me what would happen to Gavin and Natalie.

Gavin had completely lost his mind.

After discovering the secret of the calls across time, he poured every asset his company owned into

time-travel research, obsessively searching for a way to return to the past and rewrite the future.

He imprisoned Natalie in a laboratory and repeatedly forced her to participate in his experiments.

Unable to take it anymore, Natalie tried to escape. She jumped from a second-story window and broke both

legs.

In her desperation, she stabbed Gavin in the chest again.

Maybe monsters really were hard to kill, because Gavin survived.

They would spend the rest of their lives tormenting each other until death finally ended it.

I listened quietly without feeling the slightest ripple of emotion.

I had already dragged myself out of the mire of the past and pushed open the door to freedom.

Only after leaving those awful people and everything they had done far behind me did I truly find myself

again.

I had never realized how easy it could be to let go.

I lifted my coffee and took a sip, narrowing my eyes as the warm Mediterranean spring breeze brushed over

The road ahead stretched endlessly beneath the spring sun.

And I was finally walking into a life that shone because it was mine.
