“You two…”

I spoke up at once. “Don Luciano, we’re here today to tell you that Xander and I are calling off the

engagement.”

“He’s already found someone he loves, and they have a child together.”

Don Luciano’s face immediately flushed with anger. He snatched a crystal ashtray from the table, ready to

hurl it at Xander.

“You wretched boy! How dare you betray Tina!”

I stepped forward at once, catching the ashtray mid-throw.

“Don Luciano, Xander and I have talked it out. He has someone he loves now, a child too. I don’t have feelings

for him anymore either. So, we’re ending the engagement.”

Xander stayed silent the whole time, just staring at me.

Finally, Don Luciano let out a heavy sigh. “Ah… you’ve been wronged, Tina.”

“Xander will regret this one day, letting a fine girl like you slip through his fingers.”

Xander retorted at once, “I won’t regret it.”

After explaining everything to Don Luciano, I went to the room I used to live in to gather my things.

On my way out, I ran into Stephanie.

Today, she was wearing a thick down jacket, fleece-lined pants, and a pair of UGG boots.

The hostility was gone from her eyes. She walked over to me step by step and held out her hand. In her palm

lay the gold ring.
