No Longer His Donna Chapter 05

No Longer His Donna Chapter 05

After taking it all in, I walked to the master bedroom.

I used to live here. Back then, Xander had decorated every inch of it exactly to my taste.

My hand had just brushed the doorknob when a woman’s voice cut through the silence.

“You are Tina Fairvale?”

I turned to see the woman Xander had called Stephanie standing behind me.

She had a curvaceous figure, a form fitting dress, and striking blue eyes. She looked like someone vibrant and passionate.

“I am.”

During my time as a doctor, many people would ask if I was Tina Fairvale. I always answered firmly, “I am.” It had probably become a professional habit.

She studied me intently, then suddenly let out a scornful laugh. “Xander hasn’t told you, has he? I am his fiancée. We have a son together.”

My heart ached dully, but I could hide my emotions now.

“I know.”

“You know? Then why come back?” She glared at me fiercely.

“This isn’t your home anymore. You’re just an outsider.”

She lunged at me, swinging for my face, but I caught her wrist.

“You haven’t been a mother for long. Don’t get so worked up. It’s not good for your health.”

My words made her eyes widened in shock.

For some reason, I couldn’t bring myself to hate her.

Because she wasn’t really at fault. She was just afraid of losing the man she loved.

“Don’t worry. Even though Xander and I had a promise, he has a son now. I… won’t cling to him anymore.”

The second I finished speaking, she shoved me away with unexpected force and then collapsed onto the floor herself.

“I’m sorry, it’s my fault. I shouldn’t have taken Xander from you.”

“Tina! What are you doing?”

Xander’s voice boomed from behind me. Then I felt a hard shove, and a moment later, a stinging slap cracked across my face.

My vision blurred. Xander’s figure swam in and out of focus before my eyes.

But his voice cut through the fog, clear and sharp in my ears.

“So what if Stephanie is my fiancée? So what if we have a son?”

“She’s gentle and understanding, not like you, who just cries and makes scenes, resorting to such underhanded tricks to bully others. This is exactly why I never wanted you as my Donna. You’re utterly unworthy!”

“Tina, you disgust me.”

“I’m giving you three seconds. Apologize to Stephanie. Now.”

As my vision gradually cleared, I saw Xander pull Stephanie protectively in front of me.

His gaze was icy, filled with pure disgust directed for me.

People downstairs stared up at us, whispering.

“Holy shit, Tina’s actually back.”

“She’s changed so much. Her hair’s longer. She’s so thin.”

“Her whole aura feels different. Not like the naive Tina from before.”

Once, overseas, a bullet grazed my leg.

There were no antibiotics left, and I faced a severe risk of infection. But I relied on my memory, found healing medicinal herbs, and treated myself.

Back then, I thought, If Xander hears about this, he’ll surely think I’m brave.

But now… he wasn’t the Xander I used to love.

During every break, I would take Xander’s photo from my bag and look at it. My colleagues would tease me,

“Tina, you’re always so calm and collected in a crisis. The person you love must be something special, right?”

I did. I admired Xander for his excellence.

I admired his confidence as a mafia family heir. I admired his calm composure in the face of challenges.

I could learn from him. He could guide me forward.

But now…

In this moment, I knew for certain, I no longer loved Xander.

“I didn’t push her,” I said to Xander. “She fell on her own.”

“You think I’d believe that? I saw it with my own eyes!” Xander retorted angrily.

“I know you found out about the baby, and you just lost it, didn’t you?”

“Tina, you know why I never liked you? Because I despise how underhanded and vile you are!”

Then I laughed.

“Xander, do you have any idea how many children, how many people in those disaster-stricken countries, needed doctors like us to save them?”

“I regret coming back for you.”

“My time is for more important things.”

With that, I turned and walked out.

This time, I didn’t shed a single tear for him.

The girl who used to follow him, crying, had finally grown up.

And now, I’m leaving—for good.
