My Ex’s Mistress Became My Husband’s Affair Chapter 02

My Ex’s Mistress Became My Husband’s Affair Chapter 02

I typed back a fast, lethal reply.

[Three years later and you’re still begging for my leftovers.]

I blocked her and started packing.

The doorbell rang shortly after.

My father, whom I hadn’t seen in three years, stepped inside and struck me hard across the cheek.

“Skyler! We’re family! How could you call your sister a homewrecker?”

I spat a mouthful of bl0od onto the floor.

“I’m just an unlovable orphan, remember? I don’t have a family.”

My mother glared at me.

“That happened a long time ago. Why are you still bringing it up?”

“You made Sloane cry. Go apologize to her right now!”

The absurdity of it was staggering.

When I lost the baby, they were the first ones there.

They told me Vance was tr@sh and forced me to get a divorce.

For a second, I actually thought they were on my side.

But the day after the divorce papers were signed, they posted on social media.

They were announcing a wedding for “their daughter” the following month.

They only wanted me divorced so I would clear the way.

They wanted their precious adopted daughter to have a legitimate title.

That was the day I cut them off for good.

I looked them in the eye and spoke slowly.

“My husband’s mistress is her. Again.”

My mother’s rage froze on her face.

Then, she turned that embarrassment back into a scream.

“Look at the kind of men you pick! Sloane is young. Your husband obviously seduced her!”

Even though I was used to their cruelty, my heart still ached.

I wiped the bl0od from my lip and looked at Grant, who had just walked in.

“Why don’t you go pour a drink for your future in-laws?”

My parents spun around, their faces turning pale and then ashen.

They hissed at me to watch my mouth and scrambled out the door.

Once they were gone, I handed Grant the divorce papers I had already prepared.

“You heard the conversation. Let’s end this.”

Grant stopped in his tracks and looked back at me.

“Skyler, is a divorce really necessary?”

The image of Sloane’s hotel photo flashed in my mind, making my stomach turn.

“You disgust me. Only you know how many times you’ve crawled into bed with that woman.”

Grant frowned, refusing to even acknowledge the cheating.

“Skyler, Sloane is your sister. Watch your mouth.”

I laughed. It was a sharp, ugly sound.

What kind of sister was she?

I was fifteen when my biological parents finally found me after I’d been abducted as a child.

But they had already replaced me with a new daughter.

Sloane’s favorite hobby was playing the victim while framing me for theft.

Even when I had proof, my parents never believed me.

They looked at me with disgust, saying I’d turned into a liar on the streets.

When I finally graduated high school, Sloane sabotaged my future.

I had the grades for a top-tier university, but she hacked my account and changed my applications to an Unaccredited College.

I begged for the money to retake the exams, but my parents wouldn’t give me a cent.

I was so desperate to escape that house that I just went to that garbage school.

I clawed my way to graduation and finally found a man I loved.

And in the second year of my marriage, Sloane stole him too.

When I cried to Grant about all of this years ago, he had held me.

He told me Sloane was toxic and disgusting.

He said my parents were blind for not seeing the truth about their own daughter.

He promised he would make them pay for every tear I’d shed.

And now, he was telling me to accept her as my sister.

I fought back the sting in my eyes and tried to speak.

“Sloane is nothing but a bottom-feeding—”

Before I could finish the word “liar,” another sharp stinging pain hit my cheek.

I hadn’t cried when my father hit me.

I was used to his hands.

But the man who just hit me was Grant.

The man who had pulled me out of the abyss and swore I was never the one at fault.

Now, he was the one pushing me back into the dark.
