When the Forgotten One-Eyed Luna Rises Chapter 03

When the Forgotten One-Eyed Luna Rises Chapter 03

After leaving home, I didn’t return to school right away.

Instead, I went to the old pack house where the accident had happened eight years ago.

The place had been abandoned for years. Only an old pack member who guarded the building remained there.

His name was Frank.

When he recognized me, he stared at my left eye for a long time, “You’re Gamma Zane’s eldest daughter, aren’t you?”

I nodded.

He stayed silent for a moment before turning around and taking out an old duty logbook from the cabinet.

He flipped to the page from eight years ago and pointed at one of the entries.

[Heavy storm and power outage. Strange noises heard from the attic of the old pack house. Possible child crying. Family members arrived and requested that the matter not be reported to the Alpha.]

My fingers stopped on that line. I didn’t move for a long time.

Frank sighed, “That night, I wanted to report it to the Alpha. But your father stopped me. He said the two children were just having an argument and there was no need to bother the Alpha.”

My throat tightened.

So that night, it wasn’t that no one heard me crying. Someone had heard me. They just stopped them from coming.

I stood beside the attic and finally remembered that night completely.

That night, I had a high fever that wouldn’t go down. My head was dizzy, and Skylar lied to me, saying that her favorite doll had fallen into the attic of the old pack house and asking me to help her find it.

I helped her look for it. But she locked the door from the outside.

Standing outside the room, she says coldly, “Xander is the one who always puts you on a pedestal. You already have more love than anyone could ask for, yet you still did this. Stay in there and think about your mistake.”

Later, the storm came. The power went out. The entire world became terrifyingly dark.

I cried and pounded on the door, calling out for Mom, Dad, Logan, and even Xander, but no one came, no matter how many times I begged.

No one came.

The door finally opened. Skylar complained that I was too noisy and told me to be quiet.

I tried to escape while I had the chance, but my fever had made me too weak to stand.

She pushed me. When I fell, my left eye struck the sharp corner of a wooden box. The pain was so intense that I couldn’t even scream.

Before I lost consciousness, I saw the door close again. Then I heard Skylar crying outside.

“Dad, Mom, will Daisy hate me?”

When my parents arrived, they went straight to hugging and comforting Skylar, then quietly cleaned up the scene and made sure everyone involved repeated the same version of events.

By the time I was sent to the wolf hospital, the pack doctor only said, “If you had arrived a few hours earlier, you might have been able to keep part of your vision.”

I took photos of the duty logbook with my phone. I also photographed the attic door frame and the wooden box.

As soon as I walked out of the old pack house, my parents, Logan, Xander, and Skylar arrived.

The first thing Mom saw was the photos on my phone.

Her expression changed, “Daisy, it has been eight years. Why are you still digging up the past?”

Dad’s voice was cold, “Skylar was only ten years old back then. She didn’t understand anything.”

Logan stared at me, “You’re just trying to take revenge on the whole family now. Are you going to tell the Alpha? Do you want to make it impossible for us to survive in the pack?”

I looked at Xander.

He opened his mouth, his voice hoarse, “Daisy, Skylar has been having nightmares about this for years too. Just let it go.”

I looked at him.

Suddenly, I found it ridiculous, “She has nightmares, so all of you feel sorry for her. Then what about the eight years I spent awake in darkness? What was that?”

Xander couldn’t answer. I didn’t wait for him to, because I already knew the answer.

Skylar’s nightmares needed the entire family to surround her and comfort her. But my darkness only required me to get used to it alone.

I uploaded the photos to the cloud before Mom reached out to take my phone, but I stepped back, causing her hand to freeze in midair.

For the first time, panic appeared on her face, yet I didn’t spare her another glance. I turned around and left, walking straight back to school.

When I sat down in front of the computer, my fingers were still trembling slightly.

The college application page was clean and empty.

I looked at the university thousands of miles away from our pack. Then I clicked submit.

The screen displayed:
