A Figure Skating Queen Who Can’t Be Lifted But I Was Born To Fly Chapter 06

A Figure Skating Queen Who Can’t Be Lifted But I Was Born To Fly Chapter 06

After I blocked Ethan, my world went quiet.

For the next two weeks, I lived in the apartment Damien had arranged for me. Every day was the same: eat, sleep, and grind through brutal on-ice training sessions and strength work in the weight room.

Damien put me on a ruthlessly precise meal plan. Beef, chicken breast, quality carbs, and every single meal

had to be finished down to the last bite.

At first, I stared at the massive steak on my plate and my hands shook.

Ten years of starvation had turned food into something I feared.

“Eat.”

Damien sat across from me, his eyes brooking no argument.

“Your frame can support far more powerful muscle fiber than what you’re carrying. That’s your gift.”

“On an empty stomach, you’ll never land a quad.”

I gritted my teeth and shoved the meat into my mouth. The second I swallowed, my stomach lurched

violently, but I forced it to stay down.

Two weeks in, I’d gained some weight.

But I hadn’t gotten soft. If anything, my body felt loaded with a kind of power I’d never experienced before.

On the ice.

I attempted the quad toe loop again.

Takeoff. Air. Rotation.

One revolution. Two. Three…

Just as I was about to complete the fourth, my axis drifted a fraction off center.

I slammed into the ice and skidded several meters. My knee cracked against the surface, and the pain drilled

straight to the bone.

Damien glided over. He didn’t help me up. He just stood there, looking down at me.

“Your left shoulder didn’t stay locked on the takeoff. What are you afraid of?”

I rubbed my knee, teeth clenched.

“I’m used to holding back.”

When I’d been paired with Ethan, any time I generated too much force, he couldn’t handle it. Over the years,

my body had hardwired the wrong muscle memory.

Damien crouched down and looked me straight in the eye.

“Chloe, you’re a singles skater now.”

“There’s no one else on that ice. Your blade is the only thing you answer to.”

“Stop accommodating anyone. Unleash everything.”

He reached out and pulled me to my feet.

“Again.”

Fall after fall after fall.

My body was covered in bruises.

But with every takeoff, I could feel myself inching closer to that perfect rotation.

Meanwhile, across town at the Crown Ice Club training rink.

Ethan hurled his water bottle at the ground.

“Scarlett Brown, your axis is completely blown!”

“No height on the takeoff, can’t even stay upright on the landing. What the hell have you been doing for the

past two weeks?”

Scarlett Brown crumpled onto the ice, crying.

“Ethan, you’re throwing me too hard. I can’t control my body.”

Ethan sucked in a breath and swallowed his rage.

He looked at Scarlett Brown’s featherlight frame, and an inexplicable wave of irritation washed over him.

When he used to throw Chloe, sure, she felt heavy, but Chloe always adjusted her position perfectly in the air.

He never had to worry about her landing.

Now with Scarlett Brown, every throw was like tossing a rag doll with no center of gravity.

“Fine, fine. We’re done for today.”

Ethan waved her off, irritated.

He walked to the boards and instinctively picked up his phone, opening Chloe’s WhatsApp chat.

Still undelivered.

Two weeks.

This woman had actually gone two full weeks without contacting him.

Before, all he had to do was give her a cold look and Chloe would come crawling back, apologizing, finding

new ways to make it up to him.

What was making her so stubborn this time?

Ethan scoffed.

“She’s probably out there with nowhere to go and too proud to come crawling back.”

He scrolled through his contacts, found the number of one of Chloe’s close friends, and called.

“Hey, has Chloe been in touch with you lately?”

A mocking voice came through the other end.

“Well, well. Ethan Parker suddenly remembers our girl Chloe exists?”

“She’s doing just fine. Don’t trouble yourself.”

Ethan frowned.

“Tell her the Northwest Regional Championships registration is about to close.”

“If she comes back now and agrees to be Scarlett’s training partner, I can still hold an alternate spot for her.”

“This is her last chance.”

The friend hung up on him.

Ethan listened to the dead line, his face dark enough to storm.

“Ungrateful.”

He opened Crown Ice Club’s internal registration system and deleted Chloe’s club entry outright.

He thought that would be enough to cut off every road I had left.

What he didn’t know was that Damien had already submitted new competition materials on my behalf as an

independent athlete.

“If you want to die out there, then die out there.”

And at that very moment, I was standing on Damien’s private rink.

Deep breath.

Crossovers. Takeoff.

Perfect air. Maximum rotation.

Four revolutions.

The blade bit into the ice, carving a razor-sharp arc.

I did it.
