Your ‘Bro’ in Our Ritual? I Reject You. Chapter 08

Archie stood leaning against the wall with his eyes closed, his hair a disheveled mess like he hadn’t slept a

wink.

Hearing noise from the stairwell, he slowly opened his eyes and locked gazes with mine.

In that instant, I saw a spark ignite in his dim eyes.

Archie stepped forward hurriedly. “Olivia…”

Noticing my parents watching him with deep hostility, he restrained himself and greeted them respectfully.

“Mr. Green, Mrs. Green.”

Dad’s brow instantly furrowed. “Do we even know you?”

The last time Archie had been to my parents’ house was when he came to ask my parents for permission to

seal the mate bond with me.

Back then, before everything fell apart, my parents had seen him as a respected Alpha-a worthy match.

They’d accepted the engagement gifts with beaming smiles.

Now, the way they looked at Archie was like they were staring at trash.

I asked my parents to go inside first, keeping them away before he said anything that might push their blood pressure through the roof.

Standing face-to-face with Archie, I finally noticed his eyes were completely bloodshot.

I crossed my arms over my chest, speaking coldly. “What are you here for? You and I have nothing to do with

each other anymore.”

Archie looked at me and suddenly let out a faint smile. “Olivia, so this is how much it hurt you back then.”

I raised an eyebrow, not following. “What are you talking about?”

He lifted his head, as if searching through his memories. “I didn’t acknowledge you and gave your parade

float and mating ceremony to Caroline.”

“I didn’t think much of it at the time, but now, hearing you say we have nothing to do with each other… it hurts

so bad.”

I cut him off coldly. “No, what I felt back then was a hundred times worse than what you’re feeling now.”

“If you came here to play the victim and beg for pity, get lost. No one here is buying it.”

Archie’s eyes trembled, and he fell silent.

He seemed at a complete loss for words.

After a long pause, he started speaking about a past that had nothing to do with me.

“Caroline and I were together once. Then, out of nowhere, she dumped me and left the country.”

“I was depressed and miserable back then, until I went to college and met you-my destined mate. Only then did I pull myself together.”

I stayed silent, giving no response.

Archie continued, “I thought I had finally moved on, but when Caroline returned, I realized that bitterness had been buried deep in my heart all along.”

His eyes filled with anguish. “So I poured everything into her. I wanted her to regret leaving me.”

“Especially after she declared she was against bond and wanted to be just my friend, it gave me a legitimate

excuse to favor her right out in the open.”

“Without realizing it, I kept hurting you.”

My eyelashes fluttered slightly.

His obsession, his unspoken inner urge, had directly turned me into a sacrifice for his so-called revenge.

Archie grabbed my hands. “Olivia, I’m sorry. After last night, I finally figured it out. The only one I love now is

you.”

I said calmly. “Are you done? If you’re done, you can leave.”

The day we officially got together, he never said “I love you.”

When he knelt in the snow all night begging for my forgiveness, he never said “I love you.”

Now that my heart was completely dead and he realized I wasn’t turning back, he ran all the way here to say

“the only one I love is you.”

That kind of love was just pathetic.

And having sacrificed ten years of my youth for this pathetic love, the price I paid was already far too painful.

So, I was never going back.

Archie suddenly dropped heavily to his knees, his eyes filled with desperate pleading.
