Stellan didn’t move.

The ashtray hit him square in the chest with a heavy crack, glass against bone. He staggered, clutching himself as the blood spread fast across his white shirt.

“If you’re going to drop dead, do it outside,” I said, pointing at the door. “Don’t make a mess in here.”

His face went pale. He braced himself against the wall, barely holding on.

“Stop acting.” I stepped forward and grabbed his shirt, ripping it open.

Buttons snapped, fabric tearing under my hands. The moment his chest was exposed, I froze.

Scars. Layered, overlapping, brutal.

And right in the center, carved deep into the flesh, was my name.
