I Traveled Back Ten Years, Only to Witness His Love for Another Chapter 16

# Side Story

Ethan had once loved his childhood sweetheart with an intensity that bordered on obsession.

He thought it was noble—he was defending his girl! He was right!

But he was wrong.

Lily married someone she met in college.

A childhood friend couldn’t compete with a new love.

Ethan thought it was time to let go.

After searching for a long time, he finally noticed his business partner’s sister—Rachel Moore.

She smiled easily, her eyes curving into crescents.

When hurt, she’d bite her lower lip and try hard not to cry.

Being with Rachel felt comfortable.

She’ll do, he thought.

He didn’t want to explain his passionate love for someone else, so he lied.

He said he’d only ever loved her.

It’s dangerous to lie with such conviction—too bad Ethan didn’t know that.

He acted like he loved someone, fooling Rachel, until he forgot he was pretending.

—

He’d fallen for real and lost himself in the process.

Ethan had just convinced himself to let go of the past and build a life with Rachel.

She wanted a child—fine. Let it be a girl, like her—soft and adorable, just like her mother.

But she found the secret.

Ethan began to hate his habit of keeping a diary, but he thought he could win her back.

He tried everything—even proposed again.

This time, he couldn’t use the blue roses Lily loved—he had to use the tulips Rachel loved.

Rachel was so easy to fool and so easy to coax—surely she’d be moved.

She wasn’t.

She told him about the “crazy woman” he met at eighteen.

She told him that woman was her.

Who could have imagined that Rachel had traveled back to Ethan’s eighteen-year-old self?

At the height of his love for another, he’d humiliated the person he’d one day love.

Those memories he’d thought long buried in time surged back from the depths of his mind—her tears, her hurt.

—

Overwhelming, everywhere.

He couldn’t forgive himself.

Anything more would be useless.

Ethan could only try to give most of his assets to Rachel—he owed her that.

After the divorce, he fell apart.

His family left the elite circles.

What about that liar, Lily? After being cheated on and divorced, she came to Ethan once.

He turned her away.

He held a dying tulip and begged the night to swallow him.
