His Chubby Luna’s Untouchable Glow-Up Chapter 01

His Chubby Luna’s Untouchable Glow-Up Chapter 01

Ever since I had gained weight during puberty, my childhood friend had stopped speaking to me unless he had to.

Yet on the day of my Northcrest University early admission interview, he handed me a glass of milk.

Touched, I drank it all. When I woke, my long hair lay scattered across the floor.

The school’s homecoming queen, Daphne Reed, held a pair of scissors and smiled sweetly.

“Vincent, that sleeping potion worked great. I almost shaved this pig bald.”

When he met my disbelieving stare, Vincent only said flatly,

“Daphne lost a dare, so she had to cut someone’s hair.”

“You’re already fat, so it isn’t like you were pretty. What difference does losing your hair make?”

The wolf who had once promised to claim me as his mate when my hair reached my waist had changed.

That day, I wiped away my tears and quietly changed my choice to Southbridge University, thousands of miles away.

From then on, he stayed north, I went south, and our roads never crossed again.

Could anyone have borne to look at the head reflected in my mirror?

My carefully tended hair stuck up in jagged clumps, with bald patches between them. I looked hideous and ridiculous.

My hand shook violently around the comb. With every gentle stroke, broken strands fell into the sink with my unstoppable tears.

My wolf howled in fury inside me. I wanted to storm out and demand why Vincent had made my hair the price of Daphne’s stupid game.

A beautiful coat was a werewolf’s pride, and I had cared for mine until it shone as smoothly as moonlight.

Worse, my Northcrest University interview was about to begin.

What was I supposed to do?

I bit my lip hard.

I couldn’t go out like this.

With trembling hands, I tried to smooth down the tufts and pull what remained of my long hair forward to hide the damage, but nothing worked.

The girl in the mirror looked miserable and absurd, like a complete clown.

“Hey, did you hear? Daphne really cut that fat pig Rachel’s hair!”

Several students’ laughter suddenly drifted in from outside the stall.

My entire body went rigid, and I shrank into the stall farthest from the door.

“Seriously?”

“Of course. Vincent even bought a sleeping potion and put it in her milk. How else would Rachel have slept through it?”

“God, that’s pretty brutal.”

“Brutal? She had it coming. What made an ugly Omega think she deserved the Alpha heir? And she was blocking Daphne’s shot at a top university.”

“Exactly. The Shadow Moon Pack is famous for fit, powerful wolves. Look how fat she is now. Can her wolf even run?”

“Everyone knows Vincent and Daphne are practically together. He only humors Rachel because their families are close.”

Their open mockery pierced my ears like silver needles and shredded the last illusion I had tried so hard to preserve.

Behind the flimsy stall door, I slowly slid to the floor.

Cold seemed to seep into my bones until I shook. Even my wolf retreated deep inside me, whimpering.

So that was the truth.

I had been incredibly naive. He had deliberately avoided me for years, hadn’t he?

When I got hurt during training, he frowned, asked why I was so careless, and hurried away while everyone nearby snickered.

When I worked up the courage to walk beside him after school, he quickened his pace and left me far behind.

Every time, I made excuses for him. Training had him stressed. He was in a bad mood. He had to act mature. Growing up changed everyone.

I had been such a fool.

I had believed that if I trained hard enough and earned the best grades, I might get closer to him and make that tender childhood promise come true.

But the truth?

Every painful day and sleepless night I had spent trying to deserve him had only looked like a fat girl’s pathetic obsession. He had belonged with someone else all along.

My wolf and I curled up together on the cold, filthy restroom floor.

The other girls had long since left, and the silence was terrifying.

My phone vibrated in my pocket. Mom had sent me a message.

[Sweetheart, how did the interview go? Don’t be nervous. I believe in you.]

I stared until the words blurred and sharpened again. Then I typed my reply.

[Mom, go to Vincent’s house and call off our engagement.]

[But don’t tell him yet.]
