Alpha Begged, Luna Walked Chapter 03

Alpha Begged, Luna Walked Chapter 03

We survived the worst of it. Two years of clawing our way out of debt, and the pack, broken, b1eeding,finally began to heal.

We called it Blue Tide Pack.

Because I loved the sea.

One night, I worked up the courage. “We should complete the mating ceremony.”

Magnus blinked. Then he laughed softly and brushed my hair. “What’s the rush? Not yet. Wait until I can afford a ring that outshines the moon. A ceremony the Goddess herself would envy.”

He bent to kiss my forehead. “You’re my mate. No one else. Where would I even go?”

After that, he grew busier.

Then Eden arrived. New Beta. Sharp, efficient. She filled the spaces around him like water.

By the time I understood what was happening, it was too late.

We fought, again and again. Choose. Either dismiss her, or bond me properly.

He chose neither.

My disappointment piled up, winter snow that never melted.

I was pregn@nt the first time we stopped speaking entirely.

My body had never been strong,Alpha lineage or not. I’d spent ten years of my life to save his, begged a witch to pull him back from the edge. The debt I owed Fate was carved into my bones.

The pregn@ncy wrecked me. Vomiting until my throat b1ed. Legs swollen to twice their size. Cramps that woke me screaming in the dark.

He was never home.

I endured it alone.

For my birthday, he booked a five-day luxury cruise. He knew I loved the sea.

Eden was on the boarding gangway, laughing.

The second night, something rose from the deep.

Panic. Screaming. Lifeboats lowered into black water.

He’d paid for two spots. He took my arm to guide me in.

Then Eden shoved past me, clawing at his sleeve. “She’s pregn@nt,they’ll prioritize her for the next boat. But what about me? What am I supposed to do?”

Magnus hesitated.

A tentacle broke the surface. The wave swallowed me whole.

I heard him scream my name. Saw him swimming toward me.

Then nothing.

When I woke, the pain was already fading. The witch told me I’d torn badly. The pup couldn’t be saved.

A boy. His brow had been creased, even in death. He looked so much like Magnus.

I only saw him once. I cried until I had nothing left.

After that, I stopped speaking.

Magnus tried everything. Kind words. Cold commands. Screaming, pleading, silence. I wouldn’t look at him.

He broke first.

“I don’t know what else you want from me,” he rasped, on his knees beside our bed. “Tell me. I’ll do it.”

He came home every night after that. Climbed into bed and took what he wanted.

“Spread your legs.”

His knee pressed between my trembling thighs. My toes curled against the sheets.

“You’re crying again.” He sounded pleased.

The pain throbbed. The pleasure was worse. A whimper slipped out before I could stop it.

“Worthless thing, can’t even take an Alpha’s size…”

His grip tightened. He pushed deeper. His voice clung to my ear, fever-hot and possessive.

“This tight little cvnt? Mine. Every sound you make? Mine. This fragile neck I’ll snap if you disobey? Mine.”

His breath against my throat.

“Remember. You only react when I touch you.”

Soon after, I felt life stir again.

The pregn@ncy test was positive. Something in my chest, long frozen, began to thaw.

I let myself hope. That this pup was the one who’d come back to me. That this time, we’d get it right.

Magnus promised he’d set boundaries with Eden. He came home more. Sometimes he brought moonflowers to help me sleep.

At night, his arm curled around my thickening waist.

Maybe this child could change things.

Then I found the underwear in his jacket pocket.

Eden’s scent still clung to the fabric. Sweet. Cloying.

I stood there a long time, holding it in my palm.

Then I understood.

Hope wasn’t thaw. It was rot.
