The building security reacted very fast.

Several uniformed, burly men rushed over, hauled Caleb off the hood of the car.

Caleb struggled to lift his head.

I set down my tablet.

Pushed open the car door and stepped out.

My high heels clicked sharply against the pavement.

Caleb thought he had begged himself into a turnaround.

Casting all dignity aside, he wept and pleaded in utter desperation.

“I sent my mom and my sister back to the countryside. From now on, I’ll only treat you well.”

“Come back with me, let’s start over, okay?”

“I swear, from now on I’ll listen to you in everything at home.”

He tilted his face up, snot and tears smeared together.

Faced with this gutter-level, pathetic ugliness.

“Court summons for divorce proceedings.”

“It’s not up to you whether you sign or not. The court will enforce the judgment.”

“Don’t ever come near me again to disgust me.”

With that, I turned and stepped back into the car.

Closed the door.

“Drive,” I said to the driver.

The business sedan pulled away smoothly, accelerating and disappearing around the street corner.
