My Cousin Faked Illness to Steal My Boyfriend, He Turned the Tables Chapter 07

Mateo couldn’t help but chime in. “That recording could easily be doctored.”

Savannah looked directly at him. “You went with Iris to pick up my computer once. Want me to pull the security footage from that day too?”

Mateo shut up instantly.

Iris suddenly dropped to her knees, sobbing. “Savannah, I was so scared back then. I was terrified you’d all abandon me. I just wanted to prove that someone could love me too.”

Savannah didn’t reach out to help her up.

“If you want to be loved, go find someone who actually wants you,” Savannah said. “Why did you have to take from Hadley and me?”

Grandma finally spoke up. “Savannah, let the past be the past. The most important thing right now is keeping this family together.”

Savannah looked at her. “This family fell apart a long time ago. It broke the very first time you forced me to give her my scholarship money.”

Something in Grandma’s resolve cracked.

Dad sank back into the sofa, looking as if he had aged years in an instant.

Iris lay on the floor, weeping.

Listening to her cry, I didn’t feel a single shred of satisfaction.

I only felt the sheer absurdity of it all.

The relatives left one by one, the gathering ending in a bitter silence.

I thought we’d have a few quiet days at home.

But that very evening, Iris posted a video online.

She sat in a hospital hallway, her face deathly pale, a piece of medical tape stuck over her wrist.

She claimed she had spent her entire life living under someone else’s roof, rejected by her cousins, without even the right to love someone.

She didn’t name names, but she painted Savannah and me as cruel, wealthy bullies targeting a sick girl.

The video was shared rapidly.

Greyson’s diner was doxed almost immediately.

By noon the next day, a handful of strangers gathered outside the restaurant.

They held up their phones, filming.

“This is the place, right? Owner bullies a sick girl.”

“Girlfriend’s loaded, and he’s still running this dump playing the victim.”

A woman slammed a takeout bag onto the ground. “Give me a refund. This is disgusting.”

Half the customers inside the diner were scared away.

I rushed out to explain, but Greyson stopped me.

He picked up the discarded takeout bag from the ground and packed it properly.

“If you want a refund, go through the app. If you’re here to cause trouble, I’ll call the cops.”

The woman shoved her phone directly into his face. “You dare threaten people?”

Greyson looked straight into the camera lens. “I don’t threaten people. I just keep evidence.”

Standing behind him, my phone vibrated continuously.

A text from Mom popped up.

[Iris is already in this state. Just have Greyson say something nice and don’t let this blow up.]

I texted back: [She’s the one blowing things up.]

She replied: [Her health can’t take it.]

I stared at those words and suddenly didn’t feel like explaining anymore.

Greyson turned to me. “Tired?”

I shook my head.

“Then let’s start hitting back,” he said.
