Another three years passed in the blink of an eye.

I settled down in Seabrook.

Mrs. Colleen also had a daughter of her own.

The day she went into labor, I rushed back to Ashbury.

She was an older first-time mother.

Even though every medical checkup looked perfect, she was still terrified.

She held my hand tightly. As if she couldn’t bear to let go.

I smiled reassuringly.

“Everything’s going to be okay. You and the baby will both be safe.”

She blinked at me in surprise.

“How do you know…”

Before entering the delivery room, her hands were still trembling.

Suddenly, I called out softly,

“Mom.”

Mrs. Colleen froze. Then tears streamed down her face.

“Don’t cry.” I laughed.

“Consider this your early preview—of hearing someone call you ‘Mom.'”

She burst into laughter through her tears.

Several hours later, she safely gave birth to a healthy baby girl.

I took a few days off work to stay with her.

During that time, Grant came to the hospital once.

By coincidence, I had gone downstairs to buy dinner.

We simply walked past each other.

That was the only time I saw him over the next several years.

Time passed quietly.

Looking back, there were regrets.

Looking ahead, there was only the future.

Miles proposed on a sunny day.

I said yes.

Our wedding was lively and joyful.

“Grant was planning to come too. But he’s overseas handling a project. He couldn’t make it in ti—”

Before she could finish, someone shouted from outside.
