Grant had come back. None of us had noticed.

He walked straight toward me.

His eyes locked onto mine. Disbelief filled his face.

“Sabrina. You really don’t want to…”

He stopped halfway through.

Only then did I realize that he’d accidentally called me by my name from my previous life.

He’d forgotten.

I wasn’t Sabrina Whitfield anymore.

I was Ivy Lane. Mrs. Colleen’s daughter.

I answered calmly,

“The difference between our status is too great. I would never dare dream of something impossible.”

The two housekeepers hurriedly spoke up for me as well.

Grant ignored them.

He grabbed my shoulders. Forcing me to look at him.

Fear flashed through my eyes.

We stared at each other. His gaze searched my face over and over. As if desperately looking for something.

But in the end, he found nothing.

He murmured under his breath,

“Sabrina, how can you—how could you—”

His face was so close. It dragged me right back into the nightmare of my previous life.

I had no idea what he meant. I could only look at him nervously.

He let go of me at once. Turned around. And left.

His steps were unsteady. Like something was chasing him.

Everyone exchanged confused glances. No one understood what had just happened.

For several days after that, Grant never came home.

I quietly breathed a sigh of relief.

The college entrance exam was approaching.

Soon, I’d finally leave the Whitfield family behind. The thought alone made me smile.

Miles sent me countless encouraging messages.

The day I walked out of the exam hall, Nora waved excitedly at me.

Grant stood beside her. So did Mr. and Mrs. Whitfield.

Just then, a tall, handsome young man walked straight toward me with a bouquet of flowers.

He smiled without saying a word.

For a split second, that unfamiliar face overlapped with a familiar one in my memory.

“Miles!”
