They Rejected an SSS Bloodline, Big Mistake Chapter 07

In the banquet hall, the clans and guests exploded into gossip.

“So the top three across the territory is the older daughter? Why are they throwing a banquet for the younger one with an A-?”

“They hid the real SSS-ranked daughter like she didn’t exist, threw the older daughter under the

bus to prop up the younger one, and now they’ve made a total fool of themselves!”

“They were just saying she’s mediocre and can’t handle being in public. Aren’t they feeling

embarrassed?”

The gossip washed over the room like a tide.

Dad’s face went red, then dark, then white. He looked like he wanted to dig a hole and crawl into it.

Mom finally snapped out of her shock and shoved Dorian hard.

“Hurry! Hurry up and message your sister! Tell her to get back here right now and straighten this out with the score keeper! Stop making us look like fools out here!”

Dorian panicked and fumbled to send me a mindlink.

All he got back was silence.

I had him blocked.

He pulled out his wrist comm to try to call me, but-

“The ID you are trying to reach has been deactivated.”

The cold robotic announcement rang out across the silent stage.

Gideon’s face went pale too. He fumbled with his fingers to dial, and the same cold announcement

came through the speaker.

“Deactivated? How can she be deactivated?”

When Gideon couldn’t reach me, he sent me a text.

[Sera, where are you? Stop messing around, answer me.]

The second the message sent, a bright red warning popped up next to it.

[You are no longer on this user’s contacts. Your message has been blocked.]

Dorian tried to message me too, and it was also rejected.

“Mom, she blocked me!

“She even left the family group chat!”

Dorian shouted.

The banquet was completely over. The guests filtered out, snickering as they left.

The video cut off right there.

Iris sent me a text.

[Sera, your whole family didn’t even stop for lunch, they’re all running back to the house like crazy

right now.]

I smiled and texted back. [They’ll never find me.]

Meanwhile-

The front door of the Ashford house was slammed open with brute force.

Dorian kicked my bedroom door right off its hinges.

“Seraphina Ashford! You’ve got some nerve now,

huh…”

His roar cut off abruptly.

The room was spotless.

The sheets were completely stripped, the desk sat empty.

No clothes, no books-even the trash bin in the corner was wiped completely clean.

Not a single trace of anyone having lived here remained.

Mom rushed in, stared at the empty closet, her legs gave out and she collapsed right onto the floor.

“Wha… how did this happen?

“Where is she? Where did she go?”

Gideon stood numbly in the living room.

His gaze was locked dead on the center of the coffee table.

There, sitting alone, was a pack of expired mints.

Gideon walked over and slowly picked up the pack.

The wrapper had already faded.

It suddenly hit him. over a year later, after he’d met Delilah, I’d never once touched that pack of

mints.

Every time he bought expensive cakes for Delilah, he’d just taken it for granted that as long as that pack of mints was still with me, I’d never leave.

What he never saw coming was that I’d stopped wanting it a long time ago.

For the next three months, I didn’t bother following up on any news about them.

I settled down in Central Territory, worked part-time at a café during the week, and took boats to explore the surrounding islands on my days off.

The sea breeze blew away eighteen years of pent-up suffocation.

At the end of August, the elders of the Royal Training Corps (RTC) reached out to me early.

I was ranked third across the entire territory, a recruit with an SSS rating.

The corps waived all four years of my gear and tuition fees outright, and gave me a one-time bonus of 100,000 as a top-tier recruit stipend.

When the money hit my bank account, I stared at that long string of numbers.

I knew it for sure-I was completely done needing the Ashford family.
