I Saw Her Confession And Went Back In Time Chapter 08

A moment later, Chloe dragged herself forward on her knees, grabbing the hem of my pants as tears

streamed down her face.

“Valerie, please, I’m sorry! I know I messed up, okay? I’m begging you, don’t let them take me to jail.”

“If you sign a waiver, I swear I’ll move away and never show my face to you again. Think about our twenty years of friendship, please!”

I crouched down, leaning in close so my voice reached only her ears.

“If I forgive you, who is going to forgive you for what you did to me in my past life?”

“Spiking my drink wasn’t enough for you. After I gave up on public service and took a corporate job, you paid

that executive to sexually harass me.”

“Do you know what it felt like to have my clothes torn open in public while being called a homewrecker

because of your lies?”

Chloe’s tearful expression suddenly morphed into a twisted, malicious grin.

“You deserved it for being so stupid, Valerie. You totally deserved it,” she hissed, laughing like a maniac.

I stood back up, looking at her with cold indifference. “Enjoy the life you actually earned, Chloe.”

The police handcuffed her and led her away. With Bennett’s help, I hired the most aggressive prosecutor in

the state.

Instead of the standard three-year minimum for standard tampering, our legal team managed to secure a ten-year sentence for felony malicious prosecution and illegal poisoning.

The police investigation also revealed that Chloe had hired a lookalike from a local theater group to stage the drug-taking video while Bennett and I were asleep, using a replica of our living room layout.

Once the state background checks and public posting periods cleared, I officially took my oath of office.

On my very first day at the municipal department, Chloe’s parents intercepted me right outside the entrance.

The moment they saw me, they rushed forward, practically throwing themselves in front of my feet to block

my path.

“Valerie, please, we are begging you on behalf of our daughter!” her mother sobbed, grabbing at my coat frantically. “She’s only twenty-five. She’s just a child. Please, have mercy on her!”

Bennett immediately stepped in front of me, cutting them off.

“This isn’t an apology, it’s public harassment,” Bennett snapped.

“Ambushing her on her first day of work is just an attempt to guilt-trip her into compliance. Chloe brought

every bit of this on herself.”

“If I were you, I’d stop worrying about a convicted felon and start thinking about your son’s future. Do you

want to ruin his life by associating with a poisoner too?”

Chloe’s parents turned a ghostly white, either hit by reality or terrified by Bennett’s sharp warning.

Without another word, they gathered their things and hurried away.

That night, I had a vivid dream about the timeline I had left behind.

In that alternate reality, Bennett was standing in their living room, holding his phone up to Chloe’s face.

“Is this true?” he demanded, his hand shaking with rage as he pointed at her online post. “You actually drugged Valerie ten years ago to steal her appointment?”

Chloe was lounging on the couch, casually admiring her fresh nails.

“Oh, you finally found that post?” she said without looking up. “Yeah, it was me. Pretty brilliant, right?”

Bennett stared at her like she was a monster, his knuckles white against his phone. “How can you be so heartless? You destroyed an innocent person’s entire life without a single ounce of regret.”

“And what about the corporate harassment? You orchestrated that too?”

Chloe frowned slightly, annoyed by his tone, but figured after seven years of marriage and a pair of twins, he

wasn’t going anywhere.

“Please, it was just a casual comment to that executive. I didn’t think he’d actually go that far,” she chuckled. “Apparently his wife found out, tracked Valerie down at her office, stripped her clothes off, and beat her in the

middle of the lobby.”

Chloe burst into laughter, completely oblivious to the utter horror masking Bennett’s face.
